  I am new to BB but have been going here practically every day since we got our bunny Goma. I was wondering do rabbits sleep in their hidey homes or is it just more for security when they feel scared? Goma used to sleep outside all the time and he still does when my BF is home. However, I’ve been staying at home lately and now he goes into his hidey home at around 11am and doesn’t come out until 5pm (when my BF comes home). Is he sleeping in there or just avoiding me? I can’t tell if he doesn’t like me or not yet because he does lick me, climb on me, and let me pet him. However, he also often flicks-kicks at me for no reason (that I can tell). I wish I could find out if he’s been sleeping in this hidey home when no one else is around. Other than that, I feel like it’s me and it’s slightly discouraging in the bonding process (had him about about a week now). He is 9months and neutered. Any insights?

  Bunnies will often sleep in a hidey home as they can relax more and not feel so vulnerable (‘exposed’ so to speak). My bunnies always sleep under the sideboard during the day when they deep sleep, they feel safe and covered there. If they’re just having a nap they’ll do it anywhere but under the sideboard is still their favourite. I wouldn’t take it personally, especially as you said he licks and climbs on you. And it’s only been a week so that’s great! He must feel safe and comfortable around you to do that so don’t worry about his sleeping preferences.

  Ditto. I was thinking he must feel secure and safe also.
  
  My single rabbit spends much of his day sleeping in a hooded cuddle cup type thing. All my rabbits sleep pretty much between 10am and 3pm. come out around 3-4 for some hay, go nap again, then more alert in late afternoon/evening. That’s pretty typical.
