Feeling sad and just don’t know what to do. Our 2 year old dwarf dutch is our world. We were supposed to meet with a spayed female 2 years old for a speed date tomorrow. The owners were concerned because he has free roam of the house even though we have a bedroom we would’ve set up for her & they were worried because I said he has a strong personality… he does. But he’s loving and kind too. And I’m so scared he’s depressed and sad so I want a companion for him. But if we can give him the love and attention he needs and he’ll be okay, I’d be happy with that option too. It’s hard to find a spayed female near us so I feel like it was meant to be. I’m also so stressed about the bonding process with the chance it won’t work out. UGH can he be happy without another bun? We give him so much love and attention. He’s spoiled!! Advice? I’m feeling defeated about this. 😔

Does anyone have one happy bunny?!

I’m confused. So he didn’t get to meet this other bunny?

That doesn’t make any sense to me. They were concerned because you have a free-roam rabbit? I mean you def need to have alternate housing set up for during the bonding process, but that’s easy enough to do.

Honestly all rabbits have a strong personality! What weird people. Weren’t they the ones you asked to provide proof of spaying? I bet they were lying about the spay and are not trying to cover for it by coming up with some other lame excuse.

Also try not to be too obsessed with finding the one true match for your bunny. Just keep an eye out for a bun that needs a home, and chances are it will work out. There’s no deadline for needing to find him a friend, so no need to rush the process.

Im currently bonding 2 bunnies. I had my boy for 5 years and I *thought* he had a strong personality, would be territorial and would hate not being the center of attention. I was very wrong. He’s actually the submissive bun in the relationship! I live in a 1BR apartment that he had free roam of, so I decided to bond at my family home where there was more neutral territory. But even if they’re free roam, there’s typically at least one area that the buns don’t go because of slippery floors.

adding onto what Dana said, I’d try speed dating him with multiple gals. Seeing the differences in how he interacts with other buns will help you determine out a possible match. Even then it’s still a crapshoot!

I was going to say the same thing as Dana. Their reason for cancelling the date makes zero sense and I would love to know if it was AFTER you asked for proof of spay (if you did) that they decided free roam is “bad”.

Try not to be sad, you might have dodged a bullet here and I’m sure you will find a companion for your bun eventually. 🙂
