Hey everyone! What o people do with thier bunnies when they go away? We’re going away for a week in the winter and I’m not really sure what to do with them…. I don’t feel comfortable boarding them (I don’t want to upset their bond) but we don’t know any one near us that could come to the house to watch them. I used to get my mum to watch Edward but now we live 3,000 miles away it’d be a bit cheeky to ask

I wonder if anyone in the Orange county area has any recomendations. I’d be greatful for any suggestions. People at work think I’m nuts worrying about them so much… but look how cute they are!

others can probably give you better suggestions as to things in your area, but just to let you know if you board bonded rabbits they should & usually keep them together. My local HRS boards two bonded rabbits together in an x-pen and my vet puts the 2 rabbits in the same cage.

You definitely shouldn’t have problems finding a pet-sitter who knows rabbits well in your area- there are people who specialize in rabbit-sitting. A lot of them will charge a certain amount a day, but if you want good care, it could be worth it. You could try posting on your local craigslist for suggestions from locals in your area.

Oh damn, if I lived closer I’d look after your babies.

I occasionally look after my friends bunny and piggy when they go away.  She brings them over to my place and I put them together in the laundry in the spare pen.  The bunny and piggy are bonded lol.

Don’t you have some friends who could come by and feed them etc?

              Dawn xx

yah, you should have NOOOOOO problem… CA has such a strong rabbit culture over there. there is so many HRS chapters that are VERY involved. i bet if you called your local HRS chapter they could recommend someone that volunteers. i would check rabbit.org website to get the local chapter’s webpages (i know there is a san diego one, i don’t know if thats by you).

even though i am on the other side of the country i wish i could take them! SOOOO CUTE!

You can also check the Bunny Bunch – http://www.bunnybunch.org – I know they are very active in both Orange County and LA county. The leader of the group does rabbit sitting, however after the Garden Grove rescue I’m not sure how much room she has left, but she is in Chino which is quite a drive from you I think. But they may have some other recommendations as well.

OMG! They are soooo cute!!! I would watch them in a hearbeat! I also suggest looking at your local rabbit rescue groups and/or calling them up. Usually there are at least a few people who are on their list they give out when someone calls about bunny sitting. I take my two to a lady that lives about 20 miles away from me. LOL Oh she is sooo good with them though!
