Bunny schedule

Hi, i would like to ask. I know bunnies can partly adapt to human schedule with like sleeping time and play time. My bunny sleeps and relaxes from like 2pm to 9pm, at 11 I go to sleep and I feel so bad for her that I have to close her in a cage for night because I go to sleep and she just got all this energy.

(I cannot let her out through the night, that’s not an option for me tho)

Will she learn by time that this is her schedule? She is only 3 months old.

Rabbits are crepuscular so they are naturally active early in the morning and in the evening. Afternoon is usually sleepy time. Most rabbits will adapt to a schedule that reasonably follows their natural habits. I would keep up the routine of giving her access to playtime in the evening. She will likely learn it is her time to run around and explore. She will probably still have energy well into the night though. That’s pretty normal.

I agree that she will adjust to your schedule, and that giving her time in the evenings is great.

You also might consider getting an x-pen to attach to her cage as a “front yard”, that she could have access to all the time. Then she could get some zoomies out overnight as well.  🙂

I was thinking about letting her out in front of the cage at night buut I’m scared she would jump over the xpen, because I saw how high she could jump 😅 (she jumps on that cage too if we are not looking)

I mean she is all day free so is it okay if I put her in cage at night? I hope she can adjust to that. I just want her to be a happy bunny.

That is fine (esp since she’s a baby), but most cages are too small, even if they get lots of run-around time. Maybe you could set it up so even if she jumps on the cage she wouldn’t be able to use it to jump out? They do sell some pretty tall x-pens for dogs that would probably work well.

It’s not urgent, but just something to think about for the future. Lots of people here like to use an x-pen or a homemade cube condo as the bunnies “cage” or home base so they have more space 24/7.

Hmm yes okay:) I mean, now I’m living with mum so I can’t really have big space but Im planning to move out in like three years and she will have plenty of room to run around 24/7. She seems like a very happy bunny so I hope it’s fine for her.

Can I ask one more question, how much time do you spend with your bunny?:)

Well, before the pandemic I would make an effort to spend some time with my buns each morning and evening. Hard to say how long exactly, but I would usually sit on the floor with them while I was having my morning coffee or scrolling on my phone in the evening and give them some cuddles.

Since covid I’ve been working from home and my desk is set up in the room where they are. So they will come over to get some pets while I’m working. I also have 2 pairs, so I have to make sure to spend some time with each pair! My buns also have very different personalities. My girls tend to want a few minutes of pets and then like just hanging out near me, whereas my boys are always booping my feet and wanting more and more cuddles. I wouldn’t say that is a general pattern of boys vs. girls, but it just happened to be that way with my current bunnies.

Yes okay I understand:) I try to spend as much time as I can with my bunny since she is the only bunny I have.

I plan on maybe give her some friend but it’s not possible until I have moved out.

Is the bunny okay alone when I go to work from 7am to like 3:30pm? :/

Sorry I’m just being really nervous to give her the best I can haha

That sounds fine to me. Before covid, I think most people had to leave their bunnies alone when they went to work, and I’m guessing she sleeps a lot during that time.

There are lots of DIY “boredom buster” toys you can make if you think she is getting bored in her cage (especially good for the times she is active but has to be in her cage).

Mine goes to sleep at like 1-2pm and sleeps until 6-7pm because of that I’m little worried she will be all alone in the morning.

How much time you spend with them depends on the rabbit too. I’m largely ignored until the evening and then it’s “pet me” and “give me food”. That’s really all I’m good for. LOL

Oh well haha my bunny is very cuddly and sociable. So she always goes wherever I go. And she wants to be me with most of the time.

Because of that I’m scared to leave her alone when I go to work, I don’t want her to get angry or something.

Soon I have to leave for 4 weeks because of work. She will stay with my mum. Will she remember me when I come back?:( Or I will have to start all over again and she won’t think I’m her owner
