You could also use those oil diffusers. I also used the plug in air fresheners. I couldn’t stand them very long so mainly just plugged one in for a bit before I had company over. If I was doing a major clean, I would block them from the living room (for example) spray febreze on the carpet (being careful not to get close to their things/area) and then turn on a fan so it dried faster.
I did my own research on baking soda litter. My dad had gotten a bag of Yesterday News with a “fresh” scent. It had baking soda in it. Do not add baking soda to anything they might ingest. You can clean it with it, but make sure not to leave any behind. It basically causes all animals (including us) to vomit when ingested and rabbits can’t vomit so it can kill them. Not wanting to scare you at all but I didn’t know exactly why you couldn’t use litter with baking soda in it until I researched it.
I have safely used plug ins around both my rabbits. Because the smell was usually very intense at first, they would avoid the area it was plugged in at as it was the same as spraying stinky perfume somewhere. lol I also got one of those candle warmers where it heats up the wax and releases the scent that way. After Eddie tried jumping over the coffee table to get to me, I decided it was best not to light candles too often as he landed on the unlit candles sitting there. LOL
Before I had to move back in with my dad, I had my bunnies in the living room of my apartment. The only thing that really helped with the smell is making sure I changed their litter regularly. Other things just masked the smell. I couldn’t ever hardly wait for it to warm up so I could air out the apartment every spring. lol If you use the oil diffusers, I recommend not using any food scents. I had a cinnamon one and it made me hungry every time I walked past it. LOL
