So.. my bunny used to be allowed out all day, and my partner and i would just keep the door to the bedroom closed. Well, her hormones are kicking in, and are getting bad, and she’s not yet old enough to be fixed…

Today she got behind the tv, and destroyed the cord for the xbox 360, ps, a headset, and a bunch of wires for an expensive stereo system. Needless to say my partner was upset.. Thankfully they can all be replaced so he wasn’t too mad..

Either way, she’s stuck in her cage until we can bunny proof the room (its where her cage, and her litterbox, are).

And i have no idea how we can do it! I had ginnyrigged a few things before but it just isnt working… I need ideas that are low-cost (i mean reallllyyy low cost) and can be found at like, walmart or home depot, etc.

Here are some pics to give an idea what i’m up against.

Here is where the nic’s (cubes) come in handy and cheap! Just make a pen around the tv console. It can be folded up when you have people over or your bun is in his cage.

I would say you don’t even have to make it more than one or maybe two high. Then just zip tie them together until long enough to block it off.

NIC grids. Definitely. You can do a fence and “cage in” the entire row of electronics… or just wedge them in the corners where the bun can gain entry. Cardboard barriers really do not work. At least not long-term. Some buns will see cardboard and consider it a challenge rather than a deterrent. Your best bet is to do NIC grids and that will make the area very “uninteresting” and hopefully she’ll learn to ignore that area all together. Another option is to get some aquarium tubing and stick all three of your video game cords inside. That way it can be plugged into the tv but they won’t be chewable.

I han an entertainment center that looks just like the one that you have!  I fastened one NIC cube directly to each side of the entertainment center- I used some type of staple thing that is used with a hammer.  It creates a barrier that prevents them from getting behind there- and with that in place they have never tried to get  into there.

To keep them out of the fish tank- they were squeezing behind it and getting into the cabinet/stand since the back is open- and they started poo wars in there (hubby was really mad).  I used NIC panels- put one on each side- and the used 2 panels to overlap to the exact right “length” and ziptied it all together in an H type formation- the tall side of the H represent the NIC panels that block access and the bar portion of the H is what prevents them to yanking the panel out of the way or moving it.  There really is no where for it to go- it cannot be slid forward or back or pulled out or in.  Hubby would not have allowed anything to be directly attached- and he needs to get into the front all the time so he would have not liked a “pen” around it.

If you need pics- I can take some for a better example than what I am trying to describe.

I have similar things as Katnip all over the house. NIC grids can be ziptied together in any kind of configuration to fit the space you need to block.

                      thanks everyone!
i actually bought those wire cubes for organizing stuff. found them in target, the bunny proofing section had a link that tells everywhere you can get them. they were so cheap too! im going to make her a cage out of it soon. for now i am using them to block off the tv and its working really well. ill get pics of it soon.

its funny because the cardboard really did make it more of a challenge in her eyes. and so did all of the ginnyrigged stuff. lol
once i got the grids up she completely lost interest. before she would go from one thing to another. she’d find a new way in and once i blocked that off shed get up a way i thought for SURE was impossible for her to get by. i swear her single purpose for a while was getting behind there! ^.^
