bunny playpen not staying put

it seems like bunnies always invent some way or another to make things difficult. the furry troublemakers!

i built a fence out of the cage cube pieces around the cage so they would have room to run since they got too restless being in the cage. which worked well. they can come and go and chill on the carpet. and they can have their alone time (even couples need it! lol) cuz sometimes Luna seems to want to be by herself but she always goes back for grooming. The new problem is that Nova realized that the fence pieces are not that heavy and will grab the wire in his teeth and drag the fence around. he ends up dragging it and it folds and he blocks himself off from the cage and then he gets confused. i connected it with zipties so it folds easily so i could move it around. didn’t think he would want to move it around!  i dont know what to do to prevent this. it would be a travesty if i left them out and he couldnt get to the litterbox or food. then i’d come home to a freaked out rabbit. the only thing i can think of is to hang weights on the fence or something. dunno if there’s something better?  or maybe i should change the set up?

on a side (unrelated) note, i went down to the nearby pet depot and bout oxbow bunny basics T.  i was afraid the bunnies might not like it but they seem to be taking it quite well. It seems like Luna doesn’t care as long as its food. yay! no more colored pellets!

a pic of the bunnies hanging out. the paper is actually from the box of stuff i ordered from binky bunny. kinda makes me wonder why i buy so many toys when all they want to do sometimes is play with paper.  i edited the eyes in photoshop. fyi the red eye removal doesnt work for animals. you have to manually edit it which is kind of a pain and doesn’t look quite as natural. oh well

i sort of rambled on about alot of stuff there. oops. sorry! (somebody stop me!)

Have you tried some bungie cords? If you linked them from one piece to another maybe it would make it more sturdy, then if they wanted to drag it off they would have to take all of the separate pieces, which would be difficult for bunnies… Just a thought.

Heheh I know what you mean about the red eyes!! I have red eye reduction but it only works on people! My dogs eyes always show up as green….bleh…and it looks weird even when you photoshop it! I get the bf to do it, as he has WAY more patience then me and ends up doing a better job!

Those weights I see in the picture might do it! you could sort of put one in two opposite corners?

thats not a bad idea but i only have one (obviously i dont work out with it lol). id have to go buy more somewhere. its 8 lbs and so far seems like its too heavy for them to move. not sure how much those things cost tho. will look into it. =)

My bunnies can climb up the NIC panels so just be aware of escapes.

I’m just laughing at the vision of your bun dragging the cage around!  The posts here this morning are just cracking me up! Rabbits are way more pains than anyone could ever imagine aren’t they? And Henri attacking the vacuum bag? Sorry I have no help to offer you!

i know what you mean knowltons4!!!  Henri is in the vacuum bag, Lulla is eating rubberbands, in the meantime xnovalentine is trying to hook up with hot rabbit veternarians!!!

starlitaf… i would try putting a weight or something like they said.  i was expecting meadow to do that too with her new enclosure, but so far she’s left it in place… amazingly!

Frankie always does weird things when he’s in the NIC pen I built. The first time he was in it, he was dragging it around.

He had to sleep with me the other night in the guest bedroom and since it’s full of cords, I had to put him in the pen. This time he behaved and relaxed the entire evening, but as soon as he heard people in the morning, he jumped right out of it with little effort. Sigh.

i as thinking you could put 2 or 3 strategically placed weights like the one in the pic (or something similar) and ziptie them to the bottom of the NIC panel.  i know you said you only have the one weight… maybe you could shift a footstool or end table to anchor one side?  lol… what busy little bun you have!
