I recently got a bunny at rural king. He seems healthy eats good and poops. We have had liter issues from day one. I had a small plastic container for a liter box he would always pee out it and make a mess. So yesterday I put a dishpan in his house. He drinks water good but every since I changed this pan yesterday I have not noticed any pee. Would a bunny hold his pee for meanness? He is stubborn. Lol. I am worried about it. Seems to feel good running and playing. Vets are way expensive here any advice will help. Thanks Kristy

How long has it been since he peed? Some bunnies will hold their pee for a little while when their litter box is removed, maybe he doesn’t recognize the new box?

It has been since yesterday mid day I think. I have not really went digging in the liter but it doesn’t look wet. I am beginning to worry but he should go you would think.

I would think he can’t hold it forever. He feels fine though running through his house, still eating and drinking. Same old bunny.

Could he be peeing somewhere else in the house?

I have not found any pee anywhere. Unless he has peed in the liter box and it dried up. He seemed fine though.

If it has really been that long I think you need to see the vet. Can you give him back his old litter tray to see if he uses it?

I can do that and see. I really think he is just being stubborn. He would always pee out the old one into my floor then I got the pee guards that made it better. But he has the one corner that he pees in. That is where the new box is right now though. He has never really used the liter box except for pooping. He would get in it to pee but pee out it. I figured he might need a bigger box but I guess he is just going to pee outside the liter box. He is in there playing right now throwing a ball and running. I will try that and see.

Might not be fully liter trained but with not having a bunny before I have no idea what to do to train him.

Here is some helpful info on litter training:

The rabbit info section also has some very helpful info on general rabbit care (on diet, housing, bunny proofing, etc) that I recommend checking out since you are a new bunny owner. 🙂
