So i have an 8 week old holland lop female (almost 9 weeks – on monday) and i have noticed she hasnt been eating her cecals at all. I took her to the vet on wednesday and got her treated for mites, they said she might not need a 3rd treatment since it is VERY mild. but we will see when the time comes. her next treatment is on wednesday (21st) and they also sent me home a fecal kit, to see if she has any internal parasites – i will bring that on wednesday when i go back to get her second treatment of ivermectin.
i told the vet this and she said it wasnt normal. she is a rabbit savvy vet – i love her plus she is on the rabbit.org site! the vet said that older rabbits who have a hard time reaching will not the cecals but my bunny seem fine so she doesnt know why. but in the mean time, does anyone know or have any idea of why she isnt eating her cecals? she eats oxbow alfalfa hay and alfalfa pellets, and fresh water she seems to be eating and drinking just fine and also uses the litter box! she likes to run around and do mini zoomies and binkies as well!
could it be that her diet is too rich? or is that not a possible reason for her to not be eating her cecals? also how do you pronounce cecals? when i said it (i probably said it wrong) the vet smiled a bit in a silly way haha
