Lord Snow is 2 years old and an absolute dream behaviour wise

He loves to be picked up and get a good cuddle, gives kisses but he also loves to run around, jump and binky on his own

A few months ago he had a blood clot that stopped him using his back legs. He’s better now, struggles with ramps so stuck on ground level but hes been off his medication for a few weeks and other than the ramps hes just like before, vet agrees. I say this because when I discovered the problem it was through him not leaving his cage for a few days

Hes been refusing to leave again so I gave him 2 days since he had been healthy then today I pulled him out. Tested his feet etc and hes in no pain, let him run the garden and hes fine, jumping about and no signs of hesitation like before. The issue is literally just refusing to leave the hutch, anyone any suggestions why this is? I’ll fix or change anything that needs done, I just cant figure out what it is

Does he have a ramp to come out of the hutch also? I’m just thinking he might not be confident with coming out if there is a change in levels. It reminds me a little of when my rabbit had some vision loss. He didn’t initially cope with depth perception.

I’m curious, how did they picked up on the blot clot? What meds was he on for that?

Sorry about the duplicate, I got an internet error when I posted first time so didnt think it went up 😂

No he’s on the bottom level for now and it opens straight onto ground

They thought it was damage to the spine at first and sedated and xray but think it was the symptoms and location of the pain along with the xray results that pointed to it. He was given Metacam for dogs at a massively reduced dosage, vet said it works fine for rabbits they were just waiting for the patent for the rabbit one to go through. He did about 3 months of that before he didnt need it anymore but if it hadn’t worked he would have been put onto opioids

No problem! I could have deleted the other one but it had some additional details so I left it up. 😉

Okay- that’s odd that he doesn’t want to come out when it’s at the same level. You mentioned the  garage in the other thread. Is he alright running around there in once you get him out or do you carry him to the garden? Could he have been spooked by something in there?

I wasn’t aware they were developing rabbit specific one. It better not cost more! 😣

Rabbits tolerate higher doses of it then dogs do though. They metabolise it faster.

I dont know about spooked but I dontcarry him, the shed is in the garden so he can just walk out his hutch into the shed and out into the fenced off garden

We put a new flooring down so I dont know if he just doesnt like that or not

I dont think it would since we could technically just still use the dogs, I imagine it would be about the same

The flooring might be it. A way to check is throw down a sheet/ blanket or carpet mat outside of his hutch. If he comes right out, you’d have your answer.

                    Just a wee update

We removed the flooring and he seems to be a happier bunny. Currently curled up on my belly enjoying the tv 😂 and chewing on my phone if I’m on it too long
