So I got my new bunny nearly 3 weeks ago now when he was 8 weeks old. He was a little shy and quiet at first so I let him do his own thing and didn’t pick him up or fuss over him. He’s now getting more comfortable around me and over the last few days he’s been coming up to me more and more whilst I’m sat on my laptop and he nudges me and lets me stroke him. However, along with this he’s started nibbling me. They’re not hard bites but at the same time they don’t seem like nips for attention. For example, today I was sat with a pillow on my lap and he was scratching and nibbling the pillow, he then jumped up onto the pillow and started doing the same thing against my chest, fast scratches and nibbling. It didn’t particulary hurt but I let out a few high pitched “Owwws!” so he’d know he’d hurt me but it didn’t stop him. In the end I had to pick him up and put him down on the floor. But even after putting him on the floor he kept running up to me, jumping on my lap and nibbling me! After putting him on the floor a couple of times I had to put him back in his cage. Aside from this he’s never bitten me.

I’m so happy that he’s feeling comfortable enough to jump onto my lap but I don’t want this behaviour to continue. He has plenty of toys and things to chew and to play with so I don’t know why he keeps nibbling me. Is there anything I can do to try and fix this behaviour? I’m looking into getting him neutered and am hoping maybe this will help, but any other tips and suggestions would be great!

He probably just wants your attention. If he does it, I would try doing the high pitched squeal along with placing him on the floor. If he is wanting to be with you, then he will (hopefully) see that doing that puts him back on the floor again.

It might be slightly early for it but it may be puberty related? My male bunny did the same when he reached about 4 months old, he started biting and wanting a lot of attention all of a sudden, then soon after started trying to hump my arm constantly, and was spraying all over! This stopped once he was neutered x
