All three have been bonded for a while now, but recently Dexter has been coming out of the pen during the day for run around time in the living room and spending most of the day there usually. Davey and Delilah dont come out much and spend most of their day in the houses in their pen. Almost every morning there are a few tufts of Dexters fur, and she has been being kind of aggressive towards Dexter, but they still like eachother. They will both groom the other, but in the pen she doesnt (most of the time) like Dexter coming into a house shes laying in, or she will growl at him if she is at one end of their kitty tube and Dex is at the other end. Is this just cause Dexter hasnt been spending as much time in the cage?

She may be feeling territorial about her cage.  Can you switch them to different cages every night?  That would stop the territorialness most likely would help

I would take away the hide-out houses and the kitty tube. Anything that they will not share, I’d take it away for a while.

I agree with Petzy – I had a lady with a pair that I bonded and they were having issues like this and she brought them back to me to rebond and I took everything but the food bowls and litter boxes out of the pen and they were fine. She took them home and put a tube and some other toys in and the problems started again she took the tube and toys out and all was fine after that.

Mac, I have watched for this type of behavior recently (after you posted this) and I see Lint is possessive over toys toward Deirdra but only when I’m visiting with them.

They have really calmed down, I havnt seen her do any of these things towards him at all recently. I havnt found a tuft since we got back from vacation on the 18th (apart from my shedding freakout). I have noticed that Dexter sometimes tries to overstep his boundaries with her though if she gets too passive. Dexter has kind of ‘claimed’ but not really (Davey and Delilah still run through it) the kitty tube, he flops inside for hours! I have seen Dex and her laying together more and they seem to be doing much better and getting back to normal since we’ve been home.

Sounds like they weren’t too thrilled with you being away!

No and they absolutely hated us when we got home, wouldnt come near us for days. It took them like 3 days to forgive us. Tonight we took out all houses but one to share, plus the kitty tube, hopefully this will encourage them to be out more and more social, and to share peacefully.

Hated you upon coming home? I guess, this is logical rabbit understanding… they were glad you were home but they had to hate you first!

I have never left mine so I can’t even imagine what I would be in for. I don’t know who would accept the task of looking after them anyways…this is why I liked caging them in the condo for bonding. I thought about how impossible it would be to find someone to bunnysit a trio if they were only ever free-range.

I dont like leaving them, but the sitter who watches them is great. She had rabbits as a child, and comes to the apartment-saving the stress for the bunnies of moving them to someones house. She even cleans up their poo war poos! When she called me after she saw Dexters hair missing, she was so worried and came a few extra times plus her regular visits cause she was worried about them. I used to petsit for my neighbors and things so my directions are super specific. If you werent in Canada, I’d watch your trio any day!hehe

‘If I didn’t live in Canada’… oh the things that I’d do! Charge me for dreaming of California!

Hey: I visited San Diego once… but I was only little.   All I could think of was Simon & Simon!!!!
