Our year old Havana/mini Rex is 5 weeks post op after being spayed. We began noticing small spots  of fur loss late last week on her back. Now we notice the spots have joined together and formed a definite “X” pattern across her back. Could this be from her surgery? I haven’t found fleas or any irritation or redness. There are no other places where fur is missing other than her tummy where her surgery was performed. Her diet has remained the same and she had no problems post op so we’re concerned with this new development.

Can you describe what the bare skin looks like? Whether it’s smooth, flaky, crusty, etc.? This can give a good indication of whether it’s some sort of infection, mite, or reaction to something.

Depending on how it looks, it may be how she naturally molts. Huge chunks of fur can come out during a molt. Have you noticed any poops stranded together with fur recently?
