I haven’t read this anywhere, but based on my experience with Wick, I think there may be a small sense of fear involved with the licking (at first). Wick used to lick continuously when he was picked up, and now that I have a good idea of Wick’s behavior and attitude, I think licks can convey “Okay, I love you and this is slightly scary so please do something to put me down so I’m not in the air anymore. Thanks. Also I love you.”. Wick has two kinds of licks when he’s picked up: one is the kind I just mentioned, which happens immediately and is a bit more “aggressive” in licking. The other is playful, “I like this” licking.
Having a kiss-y bunny is a great thing though. Wick’s the most cuddle-loving creature, and it’s great having such a cuddly rabbit, especially since it’s a bit uncommon.
