        Hello,

I have my bunny since she was around 1 year old (as was estimated by the vet). She was spayed and I didn’t even have to teach her to use litterbox. She started using the litterbox by herself just a few days after the surgery. Her bunny house was always clean with just a few accidental droppings found here and there. She is now about 8.5. Around 3-4 months ago I realized that she started pooping all around her house (as well as into the litter box). And just recently she peed outside litterbox a few times (but only on the 2nd floor of her 3-floor house, the space where she always lies down and sleeps). Other than that she is normal self – eating and playing as usual. Our vet is retired and I was only able to find appointment in a month from now.  Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

She could be getting a bit arthritic, which can make buns less inclined to hop into their box. I know my seniors all have gotten pretty lazy about pooping in the box. When she peed, did it seem more like dribbling or large puddles? If dribbling, that could be a UTI.

In either case, your vet can assess for arthritis or bladder issues. There are also litter boxes with lower sided that can make it easier for the bun to hop in and out of.
