My male American Fuzzy Lop is being fixed on the 11th.

I have an info sheet about what to expect, but of course I am worried sick. He is my baby and the idea of him being hurt and uncomfortable is making me very worried.

Are there any secrets you know about how to make him more comfortable, and keep him as pain free as possible?

Pain meds Ask your vet for some when you go to pick him up. They help! Limit his play space, dont let him jump up or climb on anything for a couple days.

Boys bounce back quickly, he’ll do fine

Pellets are usually the last thing they start eating again, so make sure to have some of his favorite green veggies on hand, and of course, plenty of hay.

How many days would you recommend a boy rabbit keep from jumping around after being castrated?

At least a few days, a week would be better. Males bounce back so quickly, that they might get restless after a couple days because they feel “normal” but are still being confined. Another option is to allow some playtime out of the cage but block off any couches or other furniture so he’s strictly running around.

The HRS article about pre- and post-operation care may be helpful too. http://www.rabbit.org/faq/sections/…-post-care

I’m sending easy surgery and quick recovery vibes!
