Benny has been acting a little out of the ordinary today and I’m not sure what to make of it. I’m not sure if there’s something going on or if I’m just over reacting (very possible). For most of the day he has been sitting in the corner of the cage just staring out at nothing like he’s in a daze. When I come in the room he doesn’t really acknowledge me, which isn’t too odd but it’s just like when someone stares off and has to shake out of it. He’s been in the same corner all day just sitting there, not even laying. He’s usually laying if he’s not eating hay or playing. He has been eating normal and when I brought in his veggies he flew over to them like always. I’m not sure if any of this is related but I figure I’ll include it anyway in case: he’s been drinking a lot but I’m assuming it’s because it’s been so hot, he had clear pee today which I’ve never noticed before, he has peed outside of his litterbox a little more regularly but he seems to go through cycles of that. Overall he seems ok it’s just those few things that seem a little off. Am I just overreacting or should he be check out?

Edit: I’ve noticed the past day or so he won’t lay down at all. He’s a bunny who is constantly laying down all stretched out but I haven’t seen him do it in at least 24 hours. He looks like he’s about to lay down but then he hops off or just scoots himself into a sitting position. Not even loafing with his paws tucked under, just sitting.

May I ask how long have you had Benny? If he’s new to the environment, he may just be preoccupied with observing the area. If not, I’m not extremely sure, but according to my research, because I was interested in looking into this too, and I have found that rabbits have other positions that exhibit certain degrees of comfort, including lying down, which you expressed that he doesn’t do too much, but just because he not lying down doesn’t mean he isn’t content. Some behaviors to look out for are teeth grinding, stiffness, and squinting eyes as this might exhibit discomfort and/or pain. So monitor his behavior for a few days and make sure he isn’t in any pain. If his behavior looks a little more concerning, I’d say to get him checked out when you can. As for the pee thing, I haven’t seen that before. It could be the excess of water he is drinking. So, in summary, I don’t think you should worry too much about it, as long as he’s not in pain.

The overdrinking and the clear pee is definitely a red flag. It could be because it’s warm but there was a post a while ago about something similar (I’ll try and find it), it was something like the urinary tract was overworking and it was an infection, but I’m not too sure.

I couldn’t find the post but I did come across a link https://m.petmd.com/rabbit/conditions/urinary/c_rb_polyuria_polydipsia
I had a little read and it doesn’t look too good you can go through it yourself and see if you think it applies to your bun. If you think it does please go to a rabbit savvy vet.

It sounds like there could be many possibilities – the start of GI stasis, a URI, gas etc. It’s best if you could bring him to a rabbit savvy vet.
