Hi. I’m very new to this forum – I’m so so sorry if I am breaking guidelines with this post this is just, urgent. My rabbit, Buddy – is a 1 year old Lionhead. He has always had consistent poops, but this morning – I changed out his litter box around 8 a.m. Since then, he has not pooped – 6 hours now. Not once. He is eating hay, and has been all day. He has had some greens, and a very small amount of pellets (maybe 1/8th a cup). What should I do? I am so beyond worried, and just so unsure. Please help.

If for the majority of the six hours, he was sleeping or napping, that’s not as concerning. Wick sleeps from 7ish to 1pm, so that’s 6 hours where he’s not pooping, but he will go to the litter box right when he wakes up.

If he was active for those 6 hours, eating and such, then it is more concerning that he hasn’t pooped.

If his energy level is down and his appetite deteriorates, go to an emergency vet.

Any recent behavior, diet, or environmental changes?

I wouldn’t necessarily say 6 hours without poop is concerning but you know your rabbit best. My rabbits generally stop pooping at around 9:30-10am and don’t start up again til 4, sometimes 5pm. So that’s quite a while. Does your bun usually poop between 8am and 1pm? Is he lethargic at all and can you hear tummy sounds?

If he didn’t poop or eat hay in 6 hours, that would be concerning. But it really helped when you said he was active and eating hay. I’d wait a little more and see if he poops again. If not, a vet visit could be considered. With indigestion, the oxbow digestive support tabs really help. I think papya is also good for a rabbit’s tummy

Hi there, how’s your bunny doing? Has he pooped yet? Your first post doesn’t make it sound too serious as bun was eating plenty which is always a good sign.
