  So now that Waffles has started to settle into our house, I have started trying to groom him. He doesn’t seem to mind me brushing him so long as he is in his house. I brushed him for about an hour today with a brush I bought at petsmart that said it was made for rabbits. Anyway, I got about 2 matts out of his fur (if you didn’t read my first post, I just resuced him and he has a ton of matts). Does anyone know a better brush that may make this easier?
  
  I still think I may have to get him shaved even if I can get most out because some are matted at the base of his coat. Another thing I need to do is clip his nails. As far as I know, his previous owner never did it but I assume his first owner did, as he was a show bun. What’s the best way to try and clip his nail? I don’t want to hurt him and since he’s just getting use to me, I don’t want to do it anyway that may make him uncomfortable.

  It’s good that he doesn’t mind grooming! Maybe offer a treat every once in a while to reinforce his good behavior.
  
  For nails, there are a few different ways to do it – YouTube can help. Some people prefer to wrap the bunny in a towel (bunny burrito). Some bunnies trance if you hold them on their backs which makes it easy. My two are different – my boy is ok being held (doesn’t like it, but generally puts up with it) so one person holds him with his back against their body and his feet sticking out, one hand on his bum and one on his chest, while the other person clips his nails. My girl hates being held under any circumstances but is pretty good with all four on the floor, so I find it easiest to put her on the counter (I use her carrier to get her there) and then have one person pin her down (often using a towel over her back) while the other person pulls out feet and clips. Neither method would work very well for the opposite bunny, so I think it’s all about finding something you’re comfortable with and your bunny doesn’t hate too much.
  
  It can help to have the vet do it a couple times while you watch so you can see their technique.
