I have a rescued lionhead bunny, that is around 2-3 years old. The other day, his left ear fell down completely, and hasn’t come back up since! I did some research, and I am pretty sure that he is a half lop, because his ears have always been “bouncy”, and when he is super relaxed, he looks like a lop with both of his ears down LOL. But I just want to make sure it isn’t anything serious like an ear infection or a broken ear. Should I bring him to the vet? The only reason I’m hesitating is because he for one seems totally fine, and also, I have heard about so many bunnies that have had the same ear thing.

Also, will he ever turn into a full lop permanently? LOL I think lops are the CUTEST!!!

It’s unusual for an ear to just randomly flop when a bunny is already 2-3 years old. My guess is that he is a lop mix and still has some control over his ears. Lop mixes often have what we call helicopter ears. Perhaps he just got tired of holding that ear up?

The only medical thing I have heard of that can cause ears to lop are ear mites, but that has been with very bad infections that actually weigh down the ear. 🙁 So I doubt that would be the case here, as I’m sure you would have noticed that!

Ok thank you! Yes I have already checked his ears and they are completely clean.
