Bunny Ear Mites?

Hi, I have just adopted a male ND rabbit 1 week ago. I have discovered that he has a little roughness at the side of the leathery part of one of the ears. Furthermore, I found a little bit baldness at the rear part of bottom part of the ears (when I push the ears to the front).

I am wondering if it is normal? Or it could be an infestation of ear mites? However, it behaves perfectly normal and does not scratch his ears at all, except grooming them occasionally.

I am thinking of bring him to vet but I do not want to subject him to the risk of traveling unless absolutely necessary.

He is already 5-6 months (info from previous owner) but his testicles have not descended. I am sure he is a male though, its penis is very typical. Any idea why is this so?

The sort of yellow area inside the ear would be enough for  me to want to get him checked out.  As the back of the ears, it’s pretty normal the hair is thinner there – especially in a young rabbit.  He could scratch the back of the ears or another rabbit groomed him here too much but the skin looks pretty healthy to me. Of course, this is just what I can see from these pics.

It’s a good idea to get a new pet a vet visit just so you can have a basic record of their health. Weight check, teeth, general body condition. Sometimes a test of the poop. And having them sexed also!!  Rabbits are SO commonly mis-sexed.  Even female rabbits genitals can protrude a bit and be mistaken for a penis. If your new rabbit is a male, he might just be a late developer or his testicles are cryptorchid meaning they’ll remain in the abdomen. These rabbits can be neutered but it requires a different type of surgery. It’s better for their health that the cryptorchid testes are removed.

Sent him to the vet today. The vet couldn’t recognize the bumps and guessed that they were scar tissues. Anyways the vet found fur mites on him, hence applied some Revolution. Hopefully it will help. ^^
