        Hi everyone,

Something weird happened yesterday and I just want to check has anyone had something like this happen and should I be concerned? We were at our weekend house, Eva was outside and for a few hours early in the morning and I saw it was getting too hot so I moved her in the house. Ground floor is always cool. It was about 38 C outside (100 F if the converter is working ok ). She was stretched out most time, nibbling on hay occasionally. At one point (I was sitting close looking at her) she just dropped from a sitting position straight on her back and all fours went up in the air. I jumped immediately, reached for her and she acted like nothing has happened. She was all normal entire time from then on. Could she have slipped trying to lay down? The cage she was in is new and I think the floor is too smooth. Or is it something entirely different?

Sounds like a flop. Usually they flop onto their sides, but I’ve seen my lop flop “hard” a few times and actually roll completely over.

I could be wrong but to me sounds lke maybe the heat got to her and she was pooped out!  I know after some crazy sprinting cady wil flop and end up on his back! and it had scared me before but just his way of lounging.  btw the original title scared me to death lol I thought your poor bunny had been dropped on her back! is she acting, eating and pooping normally?

Now that I look at it it does seem like pretty unfortunate choice of words She’s acting completely normal. Pooping, eating, jumping on me… I even checked her out thoroughly when combing her yesterday – she’s shedding like crazy. It all seems regular. But that moment was horrible – one second she was sitting and looking at me, and next on her back with all four in the air.

I guess it would be funny if it hadn’t scared me to death. Thanks for the answers, I was already considering taking her to the vet…

Tigger does that to me all the time! He’ll be running around and then suddenly he throws himself dramatically onto the ground and looks dead. It scared me the first time (:

Squirrel does that. Alot. Its how he flops. He just goes over, almost rolls over completely. The other night he went onto his back with his fluffy toes in the air and just stayed like that. Until I reached for the camera of course. Then he moved.

Yep, it was a flop. I took your subject line wrong, too, I’m afraid.

Don’t feel alone though. I was so scared by Spockie’s first flop (on his side) that I called the vet. One of their assistants was a specialist in bunnies, and she got on the phone. She said, “I can’t be sure, but I think he’s being cute.”

I was reassured. (Love the pix of Tigger. I envy you guys that have the 4 feet waving in the air flops. Must be really adorable after you get over your heart attack.)

Thanks again for the reassuring answers I guess I’m a bit paranoid. Eva does love to just roll over on the ground, but I never saw her do that before. I need to have my camera ready for the next time if I manage to catch her Tigger, that picture is really great! So cute
