Since we have had our bunny (10 months) we have always had a water bowl for him. We just bought a hanging water bottle for the cage, and he has no clue what it is. Does anybody know of any ways to train him to use the bottle?

        Thanks!

Good question! Try and tap your finger against it while your bun is looking so they know that is where the water is. You might want to take your finger after tapping and press by their mouth so they know it is water and that is where they find it. Some rabbits don’t take too well to a bottle so you may end up switching to a water crock. There will be other along to offer advice too as I simply stick to and prefer the crocks. : )

you could wait till your bun is underneath and squeeze it letting a few droplets fall on his head he will know where it is then! but i have also found crock pots to be better, however i have a bottle in the hutch and a bowl for when he comes out because he keeps sticking his face in it and i was abit worried about it

I agree with Scarlet Rose – I think the crock is a more natural way for your bunny to drink than a bottle.

Well I happen to be a water bottle fan! The problem with crocks is that hay and other debris can fall into it. Also they can tip them over and cause quite a mess. The main reason for me is that my rabbit drinks so much water I couldn’t possibly keep up with a crock. It would have to be so big my bun would probably drown!
