Bunny doesn’t seem to like me much

A couple of months ago when my female rabbit was living in her cage setup, she seemed a little more willing to show affection whenever i got close to her. However soon, when I moved into my new apartment nearly 4-5 months ago and replaced her cage with a pen, she seems happier with the increased space and room to run around and stretch out and all but she no longer shows me the same affection since then.

I mean, she doesn’t show any hostility toward me or make any negativity whenever I get close. Perhaps she’s lost her bond with me? I am not sure. She’s been spayed a month ago and it turned out fine. She’s allot better now. She’s calmed down sigificantly. Much improvement. She just doesn’t show me any affection.

My male rabbit recieves plenty from her as they remain bonded and close to each other. Hell. I am still bonded with my male rabbit. He gives me plenty of affection and I return that affection to both. She runs off when i try to pet her. Does the same when i try to give her a kissie. When i try to pet the bridge of her nose, she just scoots back to hide in her hidey house. Have i become a stranger to her?

That’s sounds pretty normal to me. When we refer to ourselves as rabbit slaves…it’s because for the most part we do all the work, provide everything they need-and don’t even get some loving snuggles that dogs and even some cats will dispense

However, it’s not at all unatainable to make/remake that bond! Associate yourself with pleasant things….like treats! Give her raisins when she approaches you-and only when she approaches you. Don’t even try to cuddle just reward her for coming to you.

Also working with her more often with short sessions (say 1-5 minutes twice a day, every day) will go a long way to building a bond, increasing the behavior you want (Coming to you, seeking you out, allowing contact). Sit on the floor and just hang out with her.

Her needs have been met, so you’re now on the bottom. No more pesky hormones bothering her, and mate her own species and size (with a soft fur coat, not that chicken skin humans have.), a spacious house within a house. Food water treats. Who shows their servants affection, really?

K&K is right. Give her little reasons to make yourself special, and to make her know she’s special to you. (“I got a treat. He didn’t. Nya, nya.) You may have to settle for affection from one and gaze lovingly from afar from her. Little Diva.

Arson, I kind of feel the same way about my bun. He’s free range but after he had his neuter surgery last month, he had to stay in his cage for 3 days per the vet’s advice. I spent a lot of time with him during those 3 days, giving him his meds, hanging out & sleeping next to the cage at times. He flopped for me (something he rarely did before at least in my presence) and he made the happy tooth grinding noises when I spoke softly to him – I think we really bonded during that period. But after the 3 days, I let him out to become free range again and it’s just not the same. It seems we don’t have that same bond any more which I’m sad about. But I’m happy just to see that he’s happy and healthy and I’m happy with anything I get from him – a nudge, the occasional kissie, when he decides to grace us with his presence and visit the living room – I appreciate whatever I can get!
