Hi guys so I was wondering if anybody here knows of any place that does bunny “daycare” like they do for dogs and cats. For example I think its petsmart or petco that have the pet motel or hotel where you can leave you dog or cat and they will take care of them for as many days as you need. I know another place where they actually have rooms for the dog or cat and are taken out to to dog parks for walks. I was wondering this since I think i might be going in to the hospital for a few days and would really like to know of a place that provide these kinda services for my bunnies. I dont want to leave them in the vet for “day care” cuz I know they wil just stick them in a kennel.   I really dont care about the price just want them well taken care of and for my bunnies NOT to be stuck in a kennel 24/7. Im really hoping someone here knows of something.

Is there anybody who could bunny-sit for you? I’m pretty sure bunny daycares aren’t so in-demand right now as to be a large-scale operation…anything you find will probably be a more local kind of thing. Maybe you could ask around your vet/other bunny people in your area to see if there are options? Best wishes for the hospital stay!

Moz, your profile name doesn’t say where you are, so it’s hard to know if there is something in your area that is available. Can you let us know your nearest city and state? NOT your address, please.

I would imagine either way that they would not have free roam due to the dangers of having rabbits with other rabbits they are not familiar with.

You might consider a pet sitter instead.

If you cannot find a pet sitter, I think there are two places that board bunnies. One is Bunny Bunch SPCR in Montclair/Chino area and Bunny Luv in the S.F. Valley. There may be another one in the Paramount area, but I am not sure of the name. All of them have websites, some with pictures.

Oh yeah sorry guys I live in Los Angeles, Ca. Last time I left a pet sitter I later found out by my next door neighbor the pet sitter would show up once a week only. I was really upset since I had paid her to be coming in everyday. I really would like for my bunnies to be watched constantly. I checked with my vet and they have boarding services but the thing is they are left in a small kennel 24/7 since it is considered they “dont” need walking. I dont want them to be free roam, I just would like for them to be let out from where they are at least for 2 hrs. a day. Bumblebunny I will look into the places you just mentioned.

Okay so I looked into the places Bumblebunny listed and it looks like potential places I would take Zoe and Chomper. What i like is that its like a bunny adoption center so they are used to dealing with bunnies. In the bunny bunch place im guessing its a volunteer who does the sitting and takes the bunny or bunnies home with them. Which sounds pretty good since she says they are free roam at her house so im guessing she only takes in a bunny at a time, not sure but will be going tomorrow to check it out for sure. I found another place which boards dogs, cats and exotic animals its called the Barkley Pet hotel and day spa. I like this one since they have video cam on your pet 24/7 which means I can log onto their website and check up on my chunky monkeys anytime I really like the camera thing and has me rearing more towards that option, but I would like to know what you guys would choose. The boarding center where everybody there is bunny savvy since they are a bunny adoption center OR the high tech place with a 24/7 webcam on your bunny in which you can watch their every move (OH! and the animal hospital is just right next door!!!! which is also a plus since when i fill out paperwork I have the option of asking that in case my bunny gets sick they are allowed to check in my pet into the hospital)? Would really like your guys input on this one. I will be in the hospital for maybe 2 weeks so that is a big factor in all of this.

sounds like you found some good options.  I have a reliable petsitter so even though my bunnies don’t get out of their large pens if I am out of town- I know they are comfortable and well-cared for.

Just keep in mind what will be the least stressful and safest (exposure to disease) wise and you will make the best decision.

Hey Moz, I visited Bunny Luv when I was looking for a place to board Sammy while I was gone over Christmas and the girls there were super nice. It seems like they’re very caring and rabbit-savvy. Sammy ended up staying with a friend though, but I would most likely turn to them if I didn’t have someone else to take care of my bunny for free!

If you still want someone in the LA area who will come to your house, so you don’t have to relocate your rabbits, there is a at home bunny sitting service called The Bunny Sitter Club. Here is their rabbit rate page:

                        http://www.thebunnysitterclub.com/services_and_rates/rabbit.html

Looks like they have an hourly rate of $36 per hour, minimum two hours…. They also do boarding.

Honestly, the place that i really liked out of the boarding ones (even though it was just an impression from online instead of an actual in person impression) was the one in Paramount – Rabbit Rescue. Here is a link to their boarding page:

                        http://www.rabbitrescue.com/boarding.html

It just looks so clean, calm and nice… but it was too far from my place for me to consider.

                            Two words- Pet Sitter

They look after your pets in your home-and most importantly will cater your needs. So if you want water changed three times daily-they can do that I’ve had my pet sitter for three visits (two weekends and two weeks)-and she did meds and four visits daily for changing. She will be looking after the whole crew when we go overseas-dogs, pig, bunnies, fish. She’s walking my dog now so he gets used to her and will be doing a ‘fake weekend’ where she stays in the house while we are gone for a weekend so he gets used to that. She actually stays in your house if you like. She’s fabulous.
