or Colours for our out of US BinkyBunners…

there are about a gazillion colors and patterns of bunny, more than we will ever realistically call our own (unless you own a zoo!)

is there a particular color or shade or pattern that you are drawn to?

we all agree that every bunny is beautiful and ALL are deserving of loving, forever homes, i am just asking what catches your eye.  it does not even have to be a bunny that you have or have had…

if you see ten or twenty pics in a row, what will you seek out?

for me, i love the “bunny” look of the REWs (*heart* Jack!), the natural beauty of the agoutis…

and i have a special place in my heart for the black spotted… i wonder why…

I grew up with 2 beautiful Siamese cats. They were very dark in color with blue eyes – like the cat below.
I have always loved that coloring.
I had no idea that rabbit came in that color too! Maybe someday.

But for now, I am a total sucker for Dutch Buns!

I just love the sables and siamese point colors.  Then REW with long hair. Then the broken colors. Preferably black brokens as long as they have color around thair nose eyes and ears. And they must have some on their backside too.

I have the REW lionhead.  but none of the other colors i like.

I would like to collect 1 bun in the above colors.  But I dont’ have the room and have 3 already so that is not feasible.  The ones that I have , have been chosen on personality rather than color.  I found sable point but was a male and wouldn’t work out with Cotton so I got Ruby the REW due to her being female and her sweet disposition.  Very sweet and tends towards lap bunny and pettings unless she is with Cotton.

Honey Bun was chosen cause of his personality and he was a lop. I dont care for the tort colors but so be it. I have a tort.

This shouldn’t surprise you — I love harlequins.

I think the Harlequins are very striking – I had one (she’s gone to the Bridge sadly) and I thought she was stunning.

I also had a blue/gray rex named Eddie that was very striking and handsome (he’s been adopted). I hardly ever see this color so I thought he was pretty unique too.

My first rabbit Bunbun was a gorgeous sable color – he was so pretty and I do love this color too.

I’m honestly not sure if I actually got to choose my own rabbit what color I would gravitate towards….this won’t be happening anytime soon however since I still have 10 rabbits!

hopscotch is getting a big patch of colour round his eyes like that, which is weird because he never had it before, there is also some under his nose and his tail has turned white, extreme colour changes in a matter of weeks!

I am definitely attracted to the harlequins as they remind me so much of “merle” coloring in Australian Shepherds.  I also love the point colors/ shaded bunnies that look like Siamese cats in brown, lilac, any point color really!  But I also really, really like white with black spots and white with grey spots.

And I LOVE lop eared bunnies.  Everytime I look at Cotton’s face or a cute lop on on Disapproving Rabbits or Lolcats I just want to pinch their cheeks and kiss their nose.  Fortunately Cotton is very tolerant of this when it is disguised as head pets and nose rubs.  I have had her since January- and her cuteness factor has not warn off yet so I don’t think it is going to (even though she matured from baby to adult).

And as for bunny size- my friends have a Netherland Dwarf and he is really cute but he is so tiny is seems compared to Cotton.  In a way I think it would be neat to have a big mellow bunny- but I am a little afraid of how much pee and poo they would produce compared to a 6lb rabbit.  Cotton is OK to deal with- but what it pees and poos 3 times as much??  That during housetraining……that is scary.

Haha, Sagecat – what the heck is that? Laughing my butt off either way!

I always think of Harley Quinn from the Batman comics… I sometimes even catch myself saying “harley-quin” instead of “harleh-quin”

Broken Chocolate Polish of course (see siggy)! Actually, I never even knew they existed until I found my girl, but before that if I had to design a ‘dream rabbit’ it would have been her, since it’s my favorite rabbit color (brown, well, next to blue and otter…), she’s got spots, and she has all this on a dwarf body! Next in line would be a lop eared rabbit. Any color, though I do like them in solids or otter. Plus lops tend to be a little more relaxed and snuggly than those little high-strung breeds I always end up with.

i love smoky gray colors too… Kaitlyn has that new bunny (Ashley?) who is a beautiful gray. so cute! Mead can actually alternate betw/ black and smoky gray. one day she has black spots, the next… maybe it’s the light too.

Sage cat  that pic looks like it is from an old star trek episode. I remember those 2 groups fighting yet they were both black n white hheheee. Just on opposite sides.

Yes harley’s have interesting colors. Hubby doesn’t like them tho he says looks like they are dirty. Ahaha. No they don’t. They are pretty.

Harlequins Rule!!!! Everyone who sees Stormy for the first time says “oh, what a beautiful, unique colour he is”

I also love pure white bunnies with pink or blue eyes. Beige/cream coloured buns are nice too.

Sage Cat- that is a very disturbing Star Trek picture!  Am I the only one that could not help but notice their costumes accentuated their uh…package.  But not in a flattering way.  Not an expected sight on a thread about adorable bunnies.  LOL.

AHAHAHAHA!!! Sage, I remember that episode! Frank Gorshin played the alien on the left (he was the Riddler on the old Batman series with Adam West)…oh that one was a classic!

Yes, sadly I still cannot forget that beautiful harlequin lop I saw in PETCO. If it ever came back to the store and was put up for adoption, I would have to sell my soul and beg the hubby for it!

I have never seen them in plain black and white though. Wow, that is striking! 0_0

Unfortunetly I’ve seen many a tight Star Trek costume. My bf is a big vintage Star Trek nut. The show is so cheezy, I enjoy watching it just because the cheeziness is so amusing!

Yeah those old Star Trek episodes are a crack up. Frank Gorshin I remember him in Batman yeah that guy.  The packages I never really noticed I was looking at their faces (snicker)   On 2nd look hmmm. Why men should not wear tights.

The hotots remind me of Cleopatra.  There is one at the pet store with hotot color on his eyes and broken black on his back and has hair like a satin angora.   It looks to be a boy.  I named him Mark Anthony from those Cleopatra days cause of the eye liner. When I go there to see him I leave my $ at home.

Good choice, BT! ^_^ I know what you mean, there’s a little white lionhead with some black haunch spots and the black patches over his eyes (larger than a hotots, but very similar in style) that reminds me a bit of your Cotton Boo at our local PETCO. I just want to scoop him up and snuggle him, but that would be a fatal mistake.

lolz…I grew up on Star Trek. I can remember watching it when it was new and only on once a week on the t.v. I think my favorite character (and I still love men with accents) was Scotty.
Gratefully, I was too young to be impressed with wardrobe. And the stories felt very real to me at that age. I wanted to be an astronaut so bad, along with my early career choice of nurse…needless to say neither worked out. They’re all in my hope chest with my toe shoes. ^_^

Another type of rabbit color I love is anything grey…solid grey. I really don’t see that many, oddly enough. Is it a rare color or something?
I have a plush rabbit I’ve had for years and it’s a lop with two toned greyish/bluish fur. His name is Maji. I hope someday I can find a real bun that looks something like him. But that would be many years down the road, i think, long after the three I have are gone. I don’t think I could handle another bunny right now! >.<
                                                    *puts idea in hope chest*

EDIT: Oh, and BTW, along the lines of the Star Trek Theme…. (this was at lolbunnies)

OMG, I just fell out of my chair and knocked my little plastic Star Trek crew off their shelf…lol. that is so funny! I didn’t discover Star Trek until I was in my 30s and saw the reruns and fell in love with the corniess, funky costumes and most of all the characters.

My friends give me all things Star Trek TOS for Christmas, my favorites are the Nitpickers Guide to Star Trek books. I love to watch the episodes while reading about all the quirks and goofs.

my dad is big on Star Trek, he always watched TOS, and then when i came around we’d watch TNG and Voyager together. he saw Capt Janeway at our local grocery store shortly after Voyager and DID NOT say anything to her… i guess her husband is a Cleveland politician or something so she’s always around…

I love the ones with the orange markings on them! I Actually did have a choice to get one like that because the breeder I bought Fern from sold some of them too. I did not get them because Fern was more mellow and Friendlyier. I go for personality not looks.

Moonlight, where did you get those pics from? They’re gorgeous. I want that first bunny to come live with my Jersey! I actually saw a lop of this colouring at a local rescue site but it was on the recently adopted list! Probably a good thing as I can’t have another at this stage. I am drawn to this colouring – even though I wouldn’t say it’s a favorite. It’s as Beka said with been drawn to the black and whites. Because I have Jersey, I’m more partial to that colouring now.

I agree about choosing for personality too. I picked her because of what she was doing, not so much for colours.

I think the white and pale grey dutches are pretty impressive looking but I’m having trouble sourcing a picture to share. Guess they’re pretty rare!

I seem to be drawn to lop eared rabbits. I also seem to me drawn to solid colored maybe? I love the black, grays, brown, orange colored.. lop eared or not. I love all bunnys really. It is hard to say, but I would go with solid colored lop eared. Ollie is broken black. I think he is very attractive also. I got him for his gender and availablility.. as in.. I want a bunny now today immediately.  You see I cannot make up my mind. It is too hard to decide what I love the most.

It is most fortunate that I did not pick Fiver because of his looks. Up till now, I had not been impressed with the overall ‘look’ of the rex or mini-rex. But he was so alone and so scared. It was then that the name Fiver came to me as I held him and he molded into my arms. In the last few nights, he has actually not leapt away when I touch him and will let me give nose rubs outside of his pen, where he has the choice to flee. I think he’s made great strides and he is such a sweet bun. I would’ve missed out on that had I gone for his appearance first.

Those pictures are SO sweet! I wonder if Pip looked like that second one as a baby? I have to copy that and show it to my daughter.

Love that little broken orange loppy! ^_^ I DO love the lop eared bunnies!

Awww, am I the only one who likes brown buns?  That’s ok…more for me!

Just kidding.  No more for me!  2 is my absolute limit.  For now!

Now, someone please define Agouti coloring for me?  Is Robbie agouti?  Or just brown (or gray…I can never make up my mind)?  What’s the difference?

I like the brown bunnies who look like they just hopped in from the wild (Robbie was pre-destined to be mine!).  My friend at the shelter was SOOO happy when I told her that!  She said, people generally go for the flashy colors, so the brown ones and white ones stay in shelters for longer.  Then I met Noah, the brown bun, and he hated me, and Lizzy batted her eyelashes, and I got the marshmallow instead of the brown bun!  Now, of course, anytime I see an English Spot coloring, I have to check it out.

I don’t know what I’m drawn to.  I go to a rabbit rescue to buy toys and hay every so often, and of course have to visit the bunnies.  I stop by every cage, and whichever buns are the friendliest are the ones I want!  Last week, I desperately wanted an enormous REW, which is a color I don’t even really like, because he was huge and friendly.  He would have been like having a long-eared lapdog!

Of course, I’m in love with Mini-Rexes, so I spend more time trying to make them be friendly than the others, despite coloring or disposition…  The last 2 I met at the shelter were really sad and lonely and pathetic, though!  MimzMum, maybe it’s a breed-trait to be con-artists at the shelter/petstore!  Beka, where did you get Meadow? Did she bat her eyelashes and swoon at you?  “Oh, woe is me!  All alone in here…SIGH!!!”

longstory short: we had plans to go to the local shelter and look at their bunnies (they were having an adopt one, get one free deal for after Easter).  we went to the petstore to get some supplies and they were having an adoption event.  if you’re not familiar with that, it’s when a local rescue or shelter displays some animals in a petstore and you can adopt them directly from there.  some Petcos and Petsmarts will do it sometimes, or at least they used to.  that was how i adopted my dog when i was a teenager.  normally they only have kittens and puppies, but this time they had a few bunnies too!  there was a little girl there who was BEGGING her mom for a little white and gray spotted bunny.  she could not have been more than maybe 6 or 7.  the mom was saying no but the girl was PERSISTENT.  so i kinda swooped in, asked to hold the bunny and it was love at first touch.  i’d never had or held a rex before, so the softness, it was just unreal.  she was mine.  we went thru the process and the rest is history.  she was either from a dumped litter, or a dumped pregnant momma and was about 4 months when i got her.

it’s not the best quality pic b/c it was from a camera phone…
