I noticed Bella sneezing 3 days ago and i think it’s because of the residue powder from pellets. My mother likes to have the living room where i keep them, filled with fresh air so she usually leaves all the windows open at night until she goes to work at midnight. 20 minutes ago when i let Bella out i noticed her sneezing again and she was nowhere near the pellets. I checked her nose and touched it to see if it had some wet discharge which she did had but very little. Also yesterday and currently now her ears are cold and i put her into a bunny burrito just to warm her up. It’s cold-ish where i live now, the sun is behind the cloudy sky. She’s definitely not lethargic, full of energy and eats lots of hay and drinks plenty of water, lays comfortably, does lots of binkies, all in all, her appearance looks fine to me but i know bunnies hide their sickness very well, could this be a bunny cold?

when you say sneezing is it just one or two or a fit of sneezes? bunnies are allowed to sneeze just like you from dust and other environmental factors. I too was wondering about the nose discharge and stuff as Sprocket has damp nose but little to no sneezing (meaning he only sneezes once or maybe twice when face deep in hay or when running around and kicking up dust and hours apart for any other sneezes.) The vet just got back to me and said a damp nose is fine as long as no sneezing or obvious or colored discharge or any other respiratory problems it is fine. Bunnies keep a high body temp and their environment is generally much cooler which can result in condensation under their nose as they breath especially if super active and running around. And if their behaviour is same then it is fine. From what I read concerns start with repeated sneezing and sneezing fits and discharge will mat the fur around the bunnies nose and a bit of their paw as they keep wiping it away.

Bunnies regulate their temperature through their ears so it can change from cooler to warmer often. When Sprocket wakes up in the morning his ears will be cooler then I just put my check next to them and it warms right up or if he runs around a bit it will warm up. If she a has place to go to get warm and she doesn’t use then I think you are fine.

Hmm well i wouldn’t think it’s the pellets. The draft from the windows being open at night might actually be the cause? Cycling fresh air into rooms can be good for their health, but usually you want to keep your rabbit away from air drafts for longer periods, especially if the air tends to be cooler at night. Bunnies generally don’t like to be directly in any cold air drafts.

It could also be pollen blowing in from outside irritating their nose/respiratory system… it’s hard to narrow down exactly. But occasional sneezing and a wet nose isn’t usually a huge cause for alarm. But I would maybe try closing the windows for a few days to see if it makes a difference? Maybe giving some echinacea tablets in water or alcohol-free tincture and giving her a little bit cause it won’t hurt.

Rabbits ears tend to be pretty cool! They control their body heat through their ears so reading their temperature from them isn’t necessary the best way (their ears are the best indicator for overheating, not so much for telling if they’re too cold). If you don’t have a thermometer, I tend to just put my fingers under their tummy since their natural body temperature runs pretty high so their bellies should feel pretty warm.

I don’t have any flowers on my terrace or at the outside property, just trees. Yes, she sneezes about 1 to 2 times, sometimes 3 times when she is digging at the hay box where i keep the hay and when she stops somewhere from running around around 1 to 2 times but i let her out 8 hours a day and the first sneezing with the hay that day (lol it rhimes) started just 2 hours after and the “running” sneeze happened at 6th/7th hour of the exercise. She doesn’t really sneeze in the cage, i caught her one time when she was digging at the hay rack, which makes perfect sense. She has a damp nose but it dissapears after some time. Her ears were cold but i felt her tummy and it was warm. I know rabbits regulate temperature through their ears so i was worried since they were cold. I will try keeping the windows closed a bit throughout the day. Thanks for advices, gotta make sure my girl is ok

Sounds like she just sneezes from the hay stuck in her nose from digging at it ..you seem to have the same thing as me with sprocket
