        • I noticed what looked like a domesticated rabbit in the back yard that had apparently been living in a fenced off area we keep yard tools in. She (I think) let me walk right up to her but wouldn’t let me pick her up. So after getting a net I caught her & brought her inside. I quickly fell in love with her. She is young & not quite a full lb in weight. I believe she was malnourished too. She is a sweet thing & very curious. She has recently began trusting me enough to hold her. I would like to get her a friend so she doesn’t get lonely. (I plan to take her to the vet & get her spayed first.) Any ideas on what breed she might be so I can look for another bunny the same breed?

Thank you for taking this bun in!

She is probably a mixed breed, most pet buns are. Her big ears indicate that she still has quite some growing to do.

Rabbits dont seem to care at all about breed, they arent as “different” personality-wise as dog of different breeds can be. This is probably because they havent traditionally been bred for work. So if you are planning on getting her a companion later on, the breed of the companion will matter very little for their compatibility.

She is absolutely gorgeous. Her markings are otter or marten, but I’m no expert on rabbit markings.

It might be too soon to tell if she’s a girl or a boy though, it’s difficult to sex young rabbits. Even vets get it wrong sometimes.

The otter pattern can be found in a lot of breeds, so you can’t go off of that. He/she is likely a mix. Judging from the ears, I’d say probably medium breeds.
