Hello! My bunny has been biting the sides of his play pen (where he stays while hes not free roaming for a few hours at a time) His play pen is about 5 by 6 ft. He has a litter box, tons of toys and hay, hides, water. everything a bunny could ask for, yet all he seems to be focused on is biting the pen bars. He just recently started doing it 2 days and he is constantly waking me up doing it.  Any advice?

Hi there! Honestly this is pretty common. Bunnies want what they want and they normally prefer not to be confined to a pen. My bunnies have their own room and my buck still sometimes will bite at the gate in their doorway. Luckily he doesn’t do it often, but it still can be very annoying. When they have their free roam time they still spend a good amount of time in their room. I think they just like the idea of coming and going as they please.

Of course if it’s too bad and it gets to the point where they might be damaging their teeth I would do what you can to stop it. People have had succes putting cardboard over the areas they chew. I’ve even seen a recommendation of hanging baby play rings from the pen. Some have even hung acrylic around the pen to prevent it.

          Good luck resolving it!
