apologies for typing lazily in my description as it is 6 am and i recorded and posted a video to youtube for this and i am very tired

does this every morning for 2-3 days now, shakes head during day occasionally, but is eating and pooping like normal…its completely random when he does it, but he usually does it directly after eating or drinking/getting up he is 2 months, give or take and is a netherland dwarf. He only does this during the night and it wakes me up around 5….taking him to the vet again today, any ideas why he acts like this? he flops all day in the cage, but at 5 to 7 might do this..I have had him about 2 weeks now. Please help, I’m quite scared by it and i dont really have any pictures to compare the inside of his ears to if it might be an onset of mites, since none show the earlier stages.

Welcome to you and your new bunny.

Firstly, you have nothing to worry about. He’s zooming around. Rabbits are crespuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and dusk and spent most the day sleeping. So I think you’ve captured some morning energy. Some zoom or what’s called the Bunny 500 and some Binky which is a jump with a twist of the body. They sort of practice all their evasive moves and it’s a form of play.  Do you let your rabbit out of the cage for exercise time? You will probably see some of these moves then.

The head shake is like a little head binky. Sometimes they’ll toss their head if annoyed. And sometimes they are irritated by something in the ear. They do scratch them a bit as part of normal grooming but if he’s scratching at it all the time then yes, get him checked out. Always good idea to have a vet check done with a new pet anyway.

Awww, so cute! I’m in agreement with Jersey – he’s just doing some zooms and binkies – getting his energy out. It’s the way bunnies play.

Yeah he’s just playing around nothing to worry about. If you let him out of the cage he will do this even more, he’s just happy and letting some energy out. Enjoy this since once they get older they tend to get a bit sluggish sometimes. Cute bunny though!!!!!

He’s just being playful!! It’s quite entertaining watching them race around and jump around like little sillies, but it is totally normal. If you give him some out of cage exercise time, you’ll likely see even more bunny tricks.

I have to admit I thought I had an ADHD or stupid bunny when I first got her when she would shake her head and jump and jerk around. What a relief it was to discover she was just binking! I am not kidding, I really thought something was wrong with her! Just watch out my bunny poos alot when she is happy too! I have no idea if that is normal, but that is what my bunny does. So try to be understanding when yours does that. I think my bunny just gets so excited binking, and potty control is too many things to do at once!
