Bunnies on apartment balcony

So I’ve been searching everywhere for a while and I can’t seem to find why I’m looking for, so I apologize if there’s already a thread.
So I’ve just moved into an apartment, and I’ve just gotten my new boy. Unfortunately I lost my old boy recently, but I still have his full sister, so I’m hoping this summer they’ll be able to play together out on our balcony (she’s not suitable as a companion)
I’m dying to convert our balcony into somewhere comfortable and cozy to go out and sit in the Summer. I would absolutely love to be able to bring my buns out onto the balcony with me, but I oils love for them to have a great one out there.
I’m going to be planting some stuff for them to much on while but ere out there, but I’d love to have some more stuff for them.
Has anyone else “converted” their blcony for their bunnies? What are some other things I could put out for them? Also, if anyone plants things for their rabbits,what do you plant? Any favourites?
Lastly, because they don’t have access to grass, what do you guys think about possibly planting a large tray of grasseed for them to root around in/munch on?

If the two bunnies aren’t bonded, then I’m afraid they can’t have ‘play’ time. Bunnies don’t work like that, and will likely fight a bunny that they don’t know. If they’re both spayed and neutered there’s no reason why you can’t try to bond them though.

As for the balcony, as long as there’s no way of them falling off, supervised individual playtime sounds like a great idea

Good things to plant are any herbs (coriander, parsley, rosemary, basil), maybe a small apple tree (they love chewing on the twigs), lavender. Planting a tray of grass sounds like a great idea!

It might also be nice to give them a wooden box outside, that they could hide in if they got too hot.

The other thing to be aware of, depending where you live, is predatory birds swooping down and grabbing them, although hopefully if you were out with them the whole time that wouldn’t be an issue.

I allow my bun on my terrace during summer evenings/nights. Never during the day because here it gets hot as hell.

As already said, it’s better to not let them be outside unsupervised because of possible predatory birds (or just planes flying by, they may get very scared if they’re not used to them).

I’d also advice to use tall vases in case you want to plant herbs and stuff because if they get to the soil they WILL make a mess, guaranteed!
It’s important to throughly swipe/vacuum the area before the buns are allowed out to remove any seeds/leaves/debris carried by the wind (or pooped by birds, sigh) so that they won’t eat anything bad.

Of course you can include in your terrace decor a nice hut for them or buy one of those garden tables with a low “shelf”, so that they can hide under it or just lounge over it

Yes, the female is spayed but the male is not yet neutered(will be come March), so they won’t be out there together. The female just isn’t a friendly bunny

As I forgot to put once my last reply, they will not be out there unsupervised! I live in the city, although beside a “mountain”, I’m not super concerned about birds. And thank you for the tall pot idea! I’m sure they would love jumping up to play as well

Can predatory birds come in city areas too?

Well, I live in the city and there are owls patrolling at night! When K hears them he gets freaked even if they won’t come close if I’m around

I live in London, and although we don’t really have predatory birds, I would be very concerned about foxes, which are not scared of people in London and are pretty good at climbing. So it really depends where you live, but pretty much all cities have their own types of predator.

Thank you all for the help! But there’s no access for any predatory animals on the balcony, as we’re on the third floor and in the corner. Also, they won’t be left alone. The male is not yet neutered, so they won’t be out together until he is and we’ve started bonding them, but they’re not for now
