Last night my three bunnies got into my desk drawer and partly chewed these candies with the wrappers. I feel so guilty & anxious. They all seem fine. They’re eating and drinking normally. However I haven’t found any traces of the wrappers in their poop. Will they necessarilly be visible? I’m really scared they’re just going to ’sit’ in their stomachs and not come out?😭 they are small bunnies, a fully grown mum at 1.2kg and her two kids who are nearly her size around 1-1.1kg, which is why I’m worried. Will they be fine or is there a chance there will be compliactions later on? Do I have to take them to the vet for an xray? Xray for all three would just be so expensive, but I can’t lose any of them😭 Mama is getting sterilised on Wednesday so maybe I can ask the vet for his opinion but I am just so so anxious right now and want some peace of mind. It wasn’t very much wrapper so maybe it’s okay?

I would call your vet and see what they think. I hope your bunnies are ok! 🙂

Bunnies sure have a way of getting into things!  Were those candy or gum? I think candy?

If candy, the main thing I would worry about would be tummy upset from the sugar. Eating plastic isn’t great, but with that small amount I don’t think there is a huge risk of blockage. Were there other little pieces of wrapper around too? If so, they might not have actually eaten that much of the plastic.

Keep pushing lots of fresh hay and water on them to keep things moving a long. If they are still eating and pooping normally after a couple days of monitoring then you should be in the clear. If they start showing signs of upset tummy, definitely get them to the vet.
