        Hey!

It is spider season in the UK and I am horrendously arachnophobic, lots of spiders are getting into my house recently and I cant bare it.

I want to at least keep them out of my bedroom. I have some peppermint oil arriving today that I plan to spray all over the bedroom – suppose to be a good spider repellent. I know essential oils are bad for bunnies in humidifiers and candles but what about mixed with water and used as a spray? Will it affect the buns if I only use it in my room – bedroom is upstairs, they live downstairs and can be kept out easily, my thinking is that a spay is isolated to a given location and isn’t being diffused easily throughout the house – maybe I should keep the door shut at all times just incase? I guess it’s advisable not to spray this anywhere downstairs? My partner is good at trapping and releasing ones I see downstairs so I can deal with that.

Has anyone had experience with this or has any thoughts / advice

All essential oils are considered harmful, but peppermint oil is “less bad”. Especially is you dilute it with coconut oil. I would think that if you’re just using it in your room and your bunnies don’t have access, then it should be fine. The real danger comes from continuous exposure by breathing it in within a confined space. This is why you don’t want to use cedar shavings, for example, inside of a cage (which isn’t recommended anyway… but this is how rabbits are continuously exposed).

              Thanks!

I have used some just in my room and left the rest of the house clear, I reapply every couple days then will likely stop completely in a few weeks when the season ends… For a year anyway.
