I know its probably not all that interesting but I was just curious…when yours sleep how  do they sleep?   Do they usually flop onto their side, belly sleepers etc?

Miffy is a fetal sleeper.  She curls right up on her side….makes her look like a baby bunn its so cute!  When shes just lounging about during the day she usually either naps on her belly with her feet underneith her or flopped over to the side.

My favorite sleeping position by a bunny is Raymond’s…he’s got a super furry face, and when he lays down he does the superman with his back feets (straight out behind him) and he puts his front feet out and then puts his chin right on the ground between his front feet. He looks soooo adorable! I always want to pet him because he looks so furry and soft, but that usually startles him into waking up so I try not too.

Though my bunnies flop and do the “superman” lounge, I usually never find them sleeping that way. Bailey sleeps rather hunched up. Jack sleeps by either putting his head down completely on the ground, or he’ll put his paws out in front of him and keep his head on a sort of upright position. Rucy sleeps after she flops. She sort of pulls herself up out of the flop, but still a bit on her side, and then stretches out her head and lowers it. She can also sleep hunched up.

Has anyone ever seen their bunnies dreaming. So cute isn’t it?

I’ve seen Raymond dreaming allll the time! Its so funny. A couple days ago he was panting and shaking his ears and breathing really quick, and I kept saying “Raymond, are you OK?” and he wasn’t really acknowledging me – so I went over to pet him and feel his ears to see if they were hot, and as soon as I touched him he jumped, and looked at me, and looked around, and I realized he had been dreaming! Hahaha, he must have been chasing a cute bun in his sleep

Bailey really moves around when she’s dreaming! Her little eyebrows shake, and she leans over from one side to another. It makes me think she may be dreaming about being pet because when I pet her, she leans towards whichever side I’m petting, so she goes back and forth as I my hand goes around to each side. Sweet dreams!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen any of our bunnies sleep…..

I know that they can sleep w/ their eyes open…so I have no idea how to tell if they are napping or not.  Even if I sneak downstairs during dark or down times…she’s staring at me with those bunny eyes.  Maybe our bunnies are insomniacs?

Like skunklionshow, I rarely see mine asleep.  Occasionally I’ll come over to their pen in the middle of the day and the three of them will be in the "hen" or "meatloaf" position, eyes half closed and noses not wiggling.  I think this is how they nap.  A few times I have also seen one or more of them in the "lambchop" position (back legs out and bent, front paws out) with their chins on the floor.  Amazingly cute, but they always get up when you enter the room like "OMG, they caught me asleep!"

Before I got Carrera fixed every evening afterwork I would let her out and she would come to the couch, thump and jump in my lap-throwing whatever was in my lap out!

She used to fall asleep laying on my lap while i petted her. It was so sweet. But since getting her fixed she still has a grudge against me.

Carrera and Pookie both usually sleep sitting like hens but Cooper actually falls on his side and lays his head to the side with his long ears wherever. He looks like he has fallen over dead but hes just in a dead sleep. You have to say his name a few times to get him to wake up.

Bettie Bean stretches out on her side, whilst Brian does the "Duck" (I’m guessing this is similar to the ‘hen’. On the few occasions I’ve watched them settling down together Bettie flops, Brian goes elsewhere and stretches out, bettie realises this, gets up and goes and stretches out behind Brian, wedged right up against him. Never seen them dream tho.

I’m the same as MooBunnay and find their positionings TOO tempting to disturb, I just want to go and squeeze them.  Luckily i’ve found a way around this and Brian doesnt so much as flinch now when i manouvre my big butt under the bed and lay with him as he loves having his nose to nose rubs.  Bettie on the other hand is up and spreads out elsewhere.

Frankie has a little carrier in his cage that he likes to relax in. I catch him flopping over onto his side in there and napping during the day.

Most of the time, if he’s relaxing or napping outside of his cage, he tends to be in a half-sideways superman type of position, but here’s a photo of one of his first naps at home… He used to flop over much more than he does now.

I found that my bunnies flopped a lot more when they were younger as well – the babies I am fostering have exactly two speeds: binky and flop! The binky speed is very high speed, and then when they flop they are soooo passed out not even loud explosions could wake them up!

Goodness Poopy, even those pictures make my fingers twitch with the "urge to disturb".   Also Brian never flopped or stretched until he had his bits chopped (apart from when he was a baby – as in one of the pics in the gallery).  He must have found it TOO uncomfortable when he got his bits, my big boy!!  Bean is always flopping Superman-like.

those pictures are just too cute!  If your bunny doesn’t sleep in front of you or within eye shot…does that mean that the trust is lacking?

Oreo Cookie bunny flops when she lays down.  When my neighbors took her in over our summer break (2 weeks), they got really freaked out by her floppy.  She always made such a thud and just looked like she had passed out.  We got phone calls from each of the girls in one day asking if this was normal?  Our reply, its normal for Ms. Cookie!
