My hubby and I are volunteers for Rabbit Rescue Inc. (http://www.rabbitrescue.ca) and I am helping to organize our first ever BunFest Event!
I would like to invite all rabbits and their humans to come and join the fun! If you live in the southern Ontario area, please do attend!
All money raised will go to help the rabbits in our rescue’s care.
Oh, I bet that will be a great time and I know you did a great job of organizing it too!
The Bunny Glamour Shots sounds like fun.
You’ll have to get lots of pictures to post for us too.
That sounds like so much fun!!!! I wish there was something like that over here in Alberta oh well!

We have also confirmed Dr. Debbie Hrynkiw DVM from the Acton Veterinary Clinic as a guest speaker and she will also be available to answer any rabbit health and care questions you may have.
And our very speacial friends from Martin Mills will be sponsoring our event and supplying us with lots of bunny goodies! We will be having Bunny Loot Bags for every visitor!
We have also booked an airbrush tattoo artist who, for a small fee, can give you a temporary bunny tattoo (or any other design) – perfect for those of us to affraid to commit to the real thing.
Rabbit Rescue is also proud to be launching our Anti-Rabbit Meat Campaign (with support from the Toronto Vegetarian Association) – being the first organization in this country to take on this cause with total commitment and plans of action.
Add to that our Carrot Eating Contest, Silent Auction, Bunny Spa, Bunny Glamour Shots, Bunny Cafe and Lounge, bunny shopping and bunny fosters and it’s shaping up to be a bunny-riffic good time!
I can’t wait to meet all of you who will be able to attend! Check out our newest flyer updated in the original post at the top!
Oh my gosh that sounds wonderful!
Do you have some local newspapers you can contact to let them know or any local pet publications. I would ask the sponsors and the other groups as well to start publicizing this for you as well if you haven’t. It’s always as much of a challenge for my group to get the word out sometimes too.
There’s also the Hopper Home website Bunny Blog and you can ask her to post about your event too. Also Bunspace if you are on that.

So glad you’re launching your ANTI RABBIT MEAT CAMPAIGN!!!!!! GREAT!!!!!!
Rabbit Meat should be a social TABOO anyway, cuz we don’t go slaughter [inhumane] and eat other ppl PETS [dogs, cats etc etc…]
CUDOS to Rabbit Rescue Canada
I would LOVE to go but unfortunetly it would require a plane trip
I love Rabbit Rescue.ca and spend a lot of time on the site. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks for all of oyur excitement everyone! Yes, press releases were sent out today to every tv and radio station, newspaper and magazine we could think of, so hopefully we will get some press about it. And thanks for the nice comments about Rabbit Rescue – we really do work hard and are determined to create positive change in the world for domestic rabbits.

I’ll let you all know how it goes…..!
That’s exciting – please let us know how it turns out – I know it will be buntastic!

YAY, I am going. Hubby was not to sure about it but he has a golf tourny on Saturday so I am plannin on going and having my outtin on Sunday which is bunfest YAY YAY YAY I am just so excited
Oreo is going to stay home though as I dont know how he would be with lots of people around etc.
But I am still excited I even have a little stash of money haha YAY
I had such a wonderful time yesterday, and it looked to me to be a HUGE turn out. I actually met someone from the OREO board there and the only reason I knew it was here was because of her bun Andy I reconized hehe
ANyways loved it should do it again soon, I loved shopping around (not paying shipping LOL) making a new toy for my bun Oreo and talking with others who shared the loved of rabbits also
*sigh* I wish I could have been there *sigh* It sounds like it was alot of fun!
Hi Everyone! Well, BunFest was a HUGE success! We had an incredible turnout – we even had a line up of people before we opened the doors! Lots of bunny lovers and lots of bunnies came out to enjoy the festivities! We were able to educate and share information with all kinds of people and I really think everyone learned a lot. And we raised A LOT of money! We will definitely be making BunFest an annual event!
I was so happy to see so many bunny loving people cuddling their bunnies and spoiling them! All the bunnies had such a great time! It was fantastic! I have spent the last three months planning this event and I could not be happier with the results! It truly was a labour of love and to watch it all come to life before my eyes was so special! I can’t wait for BunFest 2009!

I will post pics as soon as I get some!
Congratulations! What a great article and I’m glad you made lots of money too.
would you mind if i emailed your flyer to our house rabbit society in indianapolis? they dont do many functions, and i think it would be a good idea if they did something like this. If you would rather i didn’t i understand
Not at all! Please do share it with anyone who might benefit from it. I posted it on Bunspace and there were SO MANY bunnies who wished an event like this was closer to them. So I think it would be wonderful to have BunFests all over the world!
It took about 50 volunteers to help prepare, 50 to help out that day and a good 3 months of planning to get it off the ground. But it was so much fun and so worth the effort!
Congratulations rabbitsma! Glad the show was so successful – bit of ripple effect happening hopefully. I read the flyer; be good to keep tabs on doco that girl is making. Future cross promotion opportunities!
Here are some great shots taken by Rabbit Rescue’s Sarah Clement. BunFest was a big day and there was so much to see and do!
Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Stay tuned for BunFest 2009!
Wow now I wish I could have been there!! Look at all the cute buns! LOVE the pink stoller and the kitty looks just like my Minxzie!!!
he he! Wait till Bunnytowne sees that stroller!!! That soldier is becoming famous! Thanks for the pics.
An Officer and a GentleBun!
Great pictures! Thanks for sharing! I love the t-shirt – “Got Rabbits?”
Excellent photos! That must have been quite a fun event!
Great photos. It looks like a great event – love seeing everyones rabbits too.
Had a fun time looking at the photos!!! Love the man and bunny in uniform!! Too cute! I bet it was a blast! Maybe sometime I can make it up to Ontario to take part in the fun!
I’m a frequent visitor to the rabbitrescue.ca site and like to keep up to date as it is the nearest rescue to me, although still way too far! Haviva is such an inspiration to me!
Awww, that’s very nice of you to say, LittlePuffyTail, I will let Haviva know. Yes, she is an inspiration for a lot of us.
And FYI, there is a Quebec version of Rabbit Rescue in Montreal, created by a former RR memeber who moved there. Check it out…
I emailed your flyer to the indiana hrs and asked if they did anything like this. the chapter manager emailed me back and said “that sounds like a wonderful idea! would you be willing to arrange the event?” lol! i simply told her that i would love to help but i cant arrange it on my own, i dont have the proper experience, contacts, or time. and i live 45 minutes from them lol! im waiting on an email back. i would love for them to do this though!
That wouold be great! I really encourage everyone to get the word out about events like this – so many of our BunFest visitors were so thankful to have someplace to go with their bunnies and spend a day devoted to them. I hope they can do it – it’s a lot of work but it was SO worth it and so much fun for everyone!
those are great pics! it looks like it was a fun time! i wish there was something like that close enough to me. how far were some people coming from to get there? do you know?
My local shelter has “spa days” every couple of months – where they do groomings, nail trims, massages, and glamor photosall for VERY reasonable donations to the shelter. Cats and piggies are also welcome, but it’s mostly buns most of the time. I always enjoyed meeting all the other bunny people and seeing all the different buns – the teeny pointy-faced dwarfs to the HUGE Frenchies and Flemmies, all so different from my grumpy-face lop-girl. They have snacks for the humans, and even had a salad-eating contest once!
Sadly, now that Pepper has chronic pasteurella I don’t want to risk taking her, because I don’t want the slightest chance of her infecting another bun.
Well, we are in Mississauga, Ontario which is just west of Toronto and we had a lady fly in from Montreal (hubby is a pilot so they hopped on a plane in the morning and took one home later in the day) but the furthest was from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and she brought her bunny Jack with her too! She was filming a documentary about bunnies and filmed some segements at BunFest.
