Just made Thumper a new condo just like on the Brey website (see thier pic below since I can’t find my camera..) He won’t jump from level to level!!!! This is a bun who kept escaping from his pen buy jumping from concrete floor to the back of a couch! (and back down to his pen from the back of the couch)   he is always jumping ontop of his cage so I know he is not afraid..I got him to jump from the third level to the second with cheerios and he will jump from the second level to the first but each time he jumps down he is so tenative..He was just neutered Tuesday so maybe he is sore??

Thumper has been in our care for the summer..he is the elementary school Bun and I couldn’t have him live in that itty bitty cage any longer so my family and I built him this new condo.  It has linoleum on the first floor, and carpet on the other two.  The first time he tried to jump from the first to the second floor he slipped on the floor so now I have a twel secured to the floor for footing.  He seems happy he keeps binking and lounging using his litter ….

Any suggestions he goes to school in his new cage Tuesday after Labor day!!

        Thanks ,, Thumpers babysitter/guardian

Italian Parsley didn’t even do the trick.!!

You can try an intermediate step like a small cardboard box. He may be afraid that the gap is too large to jump safely. In my condo, I have shelves at 8″ high on each floor, mostly because one of my buns is a small 2.5 pound dwarf who has a little trouble with the 14″ jump between levels. Nice job on the condo, it looks really comfy!

My bun didn’t get levels either for a while. I put treats and food on the levels so she had to get up there to eat– and she LOVES her greens. Try making your bun have to jump levels…

are you sure that the 3rd level is very secure? it looks like the gap there is larger. it might be a combination of the surgery and the new cage.

how does that work with him going to the school? does he come home every night? bunnies can get sick and pass away very quickly, so he should not be left unattended overnight. i think that would be way too much stress moving back and forth betw/ school and home every day. is there anyway he can be taken to the school to visit sometimes, but not live there?

If you want them to go somewhere they won’t. If they are not allowed, they will do it.

Tell thumper the third story is dangerous and off limits, I’m sure he’ll be up in about two seconds.

you could try putting treats or even the bunny up on the shelf, they may just not realise they can get up there

I actually have a little ramp between CJ’s levels… He couldn’t figure out the jumping. It’s not hard to do: Just zip-tie together a few overlapping squares so it is sturdy and cover it with carpet. (I tried to attach a pic here, but it’s too big. I can try again if you need a better idea of what I’m talking about, b/c I can’t even find any pics online of something similar.)

I vote for a step too. If you try a ramp with the set-up you have, it would be at way too steep of an angle and take up a lot of room.
