Hi everyone! I was hoping for some insight on my rabbit’s litter habits. I know rabbits can change their litter habits when moving to a new place, like they might forget how to use the box, etc. I also read that if the box is too dirty they won’t want to use it either and will choose to go outside the box. I don’t know if it’s because the box is dirty because I just changed the litter and I scoop a bit of poop out every day, changing the entire box every other day.
My rabbit is 1.5 years old, and she’s been spayed. I recently moved back home to NY, and since she’s been here she’s been using her box as normal. However, we recently decided to move her from my bedroom to a bigger room (she’s in an xpen set up). She still used her box all day when we first moved her, but I woke up this morning to find that she had peed outside her box which she has never done before, and pooped everywhere. It didn’t seem like the occasional small poop she would drop now and then inside her pen, it was a bunch everywhere. She’s still using her box it seems, but she just pooped and peed everywhere as well.
I guess I’m confused on the reason why it’s happening, can she be defying the new move or angry that we moved her from my bedroom? She’s been moved around a bit from Chicago to Wisconsin to NY (finally), and each time she happily resumes her routines and uses her litterbox, so I didn’t think there would be a problem. Or is it that since the room is bigger now, even though she’s in an xpen I should let her stay in the pen a while before letting her out? She isn’t pooping or peeing outside her though….. Any help/insights would be appreciated
Thanks in advance~~~
