Bun not listening

Bun has been misbehaving lately.

 

I have had my dwarf lionhead lilly for 3 weeks now she is 3 months old and she is very skiddish but can be playful and fun sometimes.

 

I know she is still adjusting to her new home but lately she has been very bad, she chewes the carpeting and rips it out of the floor trying to eat it and i nudge her saying no and she runs back into her cage and sits in the corner till i look away and does it again….

she also knows that the door in her play area leads to a bigger room and she has been scratching at it constantly so i had to put something infront to block it so she doesnt keep at it.

what else can i do to properly discipline her without making her freakout or hate me :/?

 

I did realize i was a bit rough with her at first because she was constantly doing it 6-7 times and i got fed up and locked her in the cage till she calmed down I dont understand….

normally she plays with me and flops around the room but lately she sbeen acting up.

I have toys out for her etc carrot and she can go in and out of her cage as she pleases in the designated area but I feel like shes mad at me

What should i do?!

Clap. Loud noises usually scare them. You could also try giving her toys that she can play with! If she likes to dig, make her a dig box! Get carpet scraps that she can dig on! Card board boxes are also a lot of fun for them to play with.
Also, have her fixed as soon as shes old enough. That will help a lot with destructive behaviors.

 She might just be bored. Give her something to do. Since she likes to dig, give her something that is okay for her to dig. If she starts digging in a spot that you don’t want her to dig in, slowly move the digging toy over to her, and encourage digging on that. Please don’t scare her. Digging is a normal buuny behavior, in the wild, when they are threatened, they dig a hole to escape. So scaring her will just make it worse. And she should be spayed, even if you fix the problem. You don’t want an oops litter, which will lead to a lot of baby bunnies digging your carpet. And other problems will come up if she is not spayed. I beg you to look into spaying her when she is old enough!

how old is old enough?

 For a female (like Lilly) she should get spayed at 6 months of age. For a male they should get spayed between 3 1/2 and 4 months. Hope I helped!

You’d have to talk to your vet about when they spay, mine was comfortable spaying females at 4 months( males at 3 months).

Your bun is in the teenage months, it’s why it’s recommended to rescue or adopt an older bun to avoid the terror phase

Sounds normal. LOL Sometimes the only thing you can do is physically block the area they are obsessed with. I put some bricks down over the chew spot. Nothing else seemed to work otherwise. You could also try fencing the area off with NIC grids. I had to do that for a spot on the wall they liked to chew.
