My honey bunny is about 1 1/2 yrs old. She only occasionally eats her cecals, most days there are some left  on the blanket that i have to clean up. I know she eats them sometimes cos i have seen her do it. Is it normal that she leaves most of them?? I feed her about 1/4 cup of pellets a day and unlimited hay, some parsley everyday and treats of a raisin or small piece of carrot  or broccolli or apple a few times a week.  I have tried introducing other vegies but they can give her runny poops so i dont really do that any more.  I try not to over feed her because everyone says she is fat cos she has a little dewlap. She seems happy and healthy to me she plays alot and does binkys all the time so from what i can tell she is not sick im just a bit concerned about her not eating the cecals because i have read that they are supposed to eat them all.

I would like to see an answer to this too. I’ve tried to be very careful with Pip’s diet, but she seems to leave quite a few cecals and yet her other bathroom habits are fine. Could this be something unique to buns who may be a little heavy, I wonder?

Some bunnies’ systems are very sensitive to pellets, and they can produce excess cecals because of it.  You can try cutting her back to maybe 1/2 the pellets she is getting now, and see if that makes a difference.  Make sure she is eating her usual amount of hay too, fiber helps these situations sometimes.

I am another statistic here too … Luey leaves his behind  … and is a mess to clean up.

i have also reduced his pellets but he has only improved marginally … he eats loads of hay … so I am at a loss as well.
