Woke up this morning to find Sunny’s litter box across his “house”. I’ve moved it back a few times, and each time he has grabbed it with his teeth and moved it!

I wonder why he’s doing this? In addition, now, I’m trying to figure out if I can secure it somehow to the nic panels? Any ideas on this?

A lot of bunnies do this and it can be annoying. What you can do is drill holes through the litter box and zip the zip-tie in a loop and then connect a dog leash clip to the NIC wall so you can remove it to clean it. Does that make sense? or you can attach a litter box to the NIC wall and then put a separate litter box inside of it so you could take out the stacked one and clean it. I hopes this makes sense. If not just tell me.

Oh yes…Peppy did this for ages and it was quite annoying too. She would move the litter box out of the corner and then pee in the corner where the box WAS! I secured the litter box by adding an extra grid to the inside of the NIC condo, making a little three-sided NIC “room” so that the litter box was still removeable for cleaning – but only by moving it in one direction. I guess it really only works if your litter box fits within a 1×1 NIC area. After you secure the box, maybe you could give him some similar (less noisy) toys to throw and drag around, since he seems to enjoy it.

Some bunnies like redecorating. If he went in the box in the new location I would leave it there since he’s trying to tell you that’s where he wants it to be.
If he pees in the vacated spot, you can anchor it down.
Just be sure he isn’t telling you he wants a different type of litter or box. He may want a slightly larger one if he feels cramped, or a litter change. Sammy dug her litter out of her pan and scattered it until I changed brands and she stopped immediately with the new stuff.
Sometimes they’re like mimes – you have to figure out what they’re telling you.

                Thanks for the replies!

I do not think he pottied outside of it, but what worries me is it was right on the edge of the open area to the lower levels of the condo, because I keep it on the top level.

I know he needs a bigger litter box. I’ve actually been trying to find one since yesterday. Maybe he’s reading my mind?!lol

I like the idea of drilling holes and using zip ties and the snap. I think I will try that.

He has plenty of things in there, at least I think so. I think he is just spoiled if he’s getting bored!lol. I could probably add a few more things in the bottom his house to move around. Maybe that’s his way of showing frustration??I dunno

He actually just a little bit ago was moving around the one in the living room, but this time it appeared he was doing it so he could get to the panels I have that are blocking off an area to get behind the couches. So in this situtation, the litter box was in his way.

Time for more toys throughout the house. Eventually, he will take over.

Haha, he already has taken over. He has a lot of toys…geez he is spoiled!! He also still needs to explore the rest of the house! I leave the whole house open for him, but he’s only gone from the room his cage is in, through the hall into one bathroom, through the hall some more into the living room. He just brely has gone into the kitchen, and there’s even a whole other side of the house lol.. Ah well. Guess it’s time to get some more interesting toys. WIill check out the toys & habitat board!
