I keep reading people claiming that stasis is inevitable for all buns and I’m so confused. Including current buns, I’ve been owned by 10 buns over the years and none have ever had stasis. There was one bun that had stasis like symptoms but it was not actually stasis, but a very rare bacteria shutting down his body. There’s been buns that poo’d stringy poo sometimes but never actually had stasis.

I was also accussed of not taking my buns to the vet since none of my buns, all of which are dwarfs, have ever had dental issues. There was a bun that was found to have a slight point but was a non-issue; vet did file it down for prevention. There’s been buns that was on the dental watch list right after I adopted but all were taken off at their next checkup.

There’s been lots of other issues like many types of eye issues, all eventually have lowest level of hocks, sudden death from floppy syndrone, bladder stone requiring 10k bills, etc. Are stasis and dental health issues really that inevitable?

I don’t think so. I’ve had bunnies that had no stasis episodes and they lived very long lives.

I’ve had several buns, too, but not all have had stasis. I haven’t had any with dental issues, either (one bun was on a “watchlist” but it never developed into a problem ultimately). However, it seems like some buns have been repeat offenders with stasis/gas issues, so we know to watch them carefully.

Our biggest problem in the house currently is ear mites. The cats and buns all seem to get them periodically, even though we treat them.

Anyways, I wouldn’t say stasis and dental stuff is inevitable and certainly don’t let anyone be hard on you because you haven’t had to deal with either. I’d say its a blessing, for sure! 🙂
