        What an evening…

First I had my very first spa appointment. I was extremely anxious, as I’m shy so meeting new people is hard for me (yes, I *am* a volunteer coordinator ) AND even though to date I’ve never had a problem trancing any bunny, I was just so worried I’d go over there and not be able to do it.

So I get there, and the rabbit was very well taken care of and exceptionally spoiled. Beautiful siamese colored lop.

        Never been picked up before.

It was very nerve racking. Bunny was very social but ‘don’t you dare pick me up!” It was interesting…LOL  So yes, I suceeded with no major arteries ripped open! I got all the nails done and the glands cleaned. They said they’d like me to come back. So despite being very nervous I guess I did good! They donated a litter box, a beautiful water bottle and some litterbox liners as well as forty instead of thirty dollars (That’s our second donation-I’m so proud!!)

Then off to the shelter to do the major-weekly-sanitize-everything-cage-clean-extravaganza.  I actually don’t mind it at all, I love giving bunnies a clean home with treats and new toys, and times eight (five are in foster care) is pretty heart warming.

I got a huge seagrass matt and currogated paper from BB so I cut those up and everyone gets a square of grass matt and corrugated paper. I also brought cardboard (I collect all week then bring rolls and boxes out for them). So everyone got a tube, a new cardboard box, seagrass matt and paper, shredded paper, apple sticks (A friend at work brings branches to me from her tree), papaya tablets and carrots. They were all very happy. Nala didn’t growl much tonight and I spent about half the regular amount of time catching her as usual! Success!! (Although I’m almost really tempted to bond her to another bunny to calm her down maybe…she just is so fearful of people… getting better but still!)

Then to one of our foster homes to bring mineral oil and medicine for the bunny who possibly has ear mites. And finally home to sanitize myself  and see my own bunnies! I’m sooooo off to bed! Nite!

          K&K,
That all sounds wonderful, and I am not surprised that you got rave reviews and a bigger donation.

Question: What do you do with a seagrass matte that has a wet area, either from water or pee (no smell so probably water)?
I put down two for Samantha, and the one under her water and food dishes got very wet. I took it out for a day and it air dried, so am tempted to put it back in. There’s another one in there that doesn’t interest her. I thought it would be good for her little feet instead of the plain plastic cage bottom, but she seems to like the cage floor.

I could just save them for outside the cage later to protect carpet areas. What do you think? Thanks.

one of mine peed on a grass mat once (for no reason that i could tell?) i rinsed it under the sink in cold water, patted it dry and let it air dry for a couple days. i put it back and there were no problems since then…

what a wild night K&K! what would it cost you to come down and trance Miss Meadow for me…

i think that’s funny, you meet someone for the first time, “hello, how are you? let me poke your bunny’s butt…”

              It was very nerve racking!!

I agree Pam, no problems whatsoever, you can just rinse them and let them dry. Of course always mindful of mold on food/hay/treats etc, but it should be fine!

I love bunny condo cleaning day too   It’s tonight! How exciting LOL.  Every Sunday I vacuum all their carpets and spray down their tiles and wash their bowls and give them new boxes and stuff.  They seem to enjoy it too..especially Tucker.  She always flops a lot after her condo is all cleaned and organized.

I wish you lived closer K&K..I could really use a bunny spa visit for Drue and Tucker!!  They’re not so willing to let me do their nails..and anal glands..forget it..luckily they seem to handle those well themselves…
