        Hello everyone,

sorry if it seems like I ramble, but I have a couple of related question. My rabbit Reece’s is 3 years old. I am going to get her spayed soon now that Covid-19 is less of a worry. I am concerned though because she has lumps all over her stomach area. They don’t seem to hurt her at all and I notices that over the last few months the lumps have been coming and going. They pop up in different spots but then go away again. Her behavior/eating habits have been completely normal. Do you all think the vet will still spray her? Also does anyone know what these lumps might be?

Are some of the bumps nipples? If shes a female, it is natural for her to have some pairs on nipples under there.

Re: bumps coming and going, are they popping and have liquid or is it that you sometimes can and cannot find them in certain locations?

Her nipples are there, yes. These are different bumps. One of them did have liquid come out, but mostly they literally completely shrink until they are gone and then there are new ones on different places.

There should be some sort of pre op exam prior to her going through with the spay. Have you mentioned this to the vet? Make sure to do so.

I know there are harmless bumps and then there are harmful bumps. Unfortunately, based on your rabbit’s age, my initial thoughts is this may be a symptom of uterine cancer. If that’s the case, the vet will discuss the best course of action with you, including method of diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis.

Are these bumps underneath the skin? Or are they growths on the outside? I’m trying to understand what we’re dealing with here.

Hmm… underneath the skin. Are they following the mammary chains? It could be cystic mastitis.

Thanks for all of your replies. I don’t think they are abscesses as only one has ever had any liquid come out. I also don’t think they follow the mammary glands. She has one almost on her front leg. I will check that website and probably schedule a vet appointment. She has maintained consistently normal behavior though and this has been happening for about 6 months. I’m just concerned because I want to get her spayed before she is too old. (I haven’t done it before because my mother was so against it and convinced me not to).
