Bumbs on bunny ears *update*

Has anyone ever noticed bumps on their bunnies ears (similar to the dry-skin bumps people get on their elbows?)  Samson seems to have started to develop these little bumps on his ears.  I first noticed them about 2 weeks ago on the outside of one of his ears, and then yesterday when I was petting him I noticed that it has “spread” to the inside and his other ear.  I cant decide if this is just dry skin or if it could be something more serious like ear mites, etc.

i don’t know if this is similar but my guinea pig once got a abscess (started out very tiny and grew B-I-G) on his back. he needed surgery to get it removed.

Not sure what it is and I tend to overreact. But I called my vet this morning and they were so nice!!!! They said to bring Samson by this afternoon and they would slip him in between patients. They said as long as it wasnt anything they wouldnt charge me for the “consult”. I am so so so happy to have found an awesome bunny vet!!! I’ll let you guys know what I find out.

ohh good i can’t wait for the results. your vet sounds nice too. and it is better to be too concerned to too little. you never know when a health problem might arise. its best to never ignore any sigh of possible infection/illness! what a good bunny mom your are LOL.

I never updated and figured I would since the bumpy ear issue is fixed!!

I brought Samson and Ivy to the vet together. She looked in both their ears and said that Samson had extra wax buildup. This was something that she actually already had noted from their exam pre-neuter. She took a swab of wax from Sammy’s ear (he HATED that!!) but couldnt find any live ear mites in the wax, but thought that the excess wax was probably due to larva living in there. She said that usually when people bring animals in with bumps and waxy buildup in 6-8 months they come back with more serious issues and full-on ear mite investation. So I said to go ahead and treat them for the ear mites even though we couldnt actually see them. She weighed each bunny and then administered their correct does of puppy ear mite medication (sorry I dont remember the name). Total cost was only $25 for the visit and $14 for meds for both of them!!

Within about 3 days the bumps started to go away. And now 2 weeks later they are all gone. I have NO idea where Samson got them but I am happy to see that they are no more!

Figured I would update you all incase anyone had bunnies with similar bumps.
