My rabbits are being bonded, one female one male. The male keeps trying to bite at the females butt and I’m not sure why. This is the only interaction that happens during the sessions. He follows her around bitting at her butt and her belly. Why?

          Hello!

This is aggression. Biting is no good, nipping isn’t either unless they are grooming each other which is normal in that case.

Are they both spayed and neutered? Also, did you go through pre-bonding? I would suggest separating them and go back to small sessions together.

Is he actually biting or nipping? How does your female react?

Onyxmoon – nipping is how bunnies communicate. It’s perfectly acceptable, in fact, necessary. Unless it’s excessive.

Yes i understand nipping is acceptable and normal , but it also depends on the context of the situation. Sometimes it can be aggression driven nips (my female did this to the male we have that she isn’t bonded with, when they first met. Grunts and nips, more annoyed than aggressive imo with her).

Ah yes, I misunderstood you. My apologies

Speaking of nips, Buttercup just nipped my foot
