I realize that brussel sprouts are on the ‘maybe tolerated’ list, but lets pretend for the sake of the question that Boston tolerates them just fine. My question is, should I only feed fresh sprouts? Or can I feed frozen? If I go the frozen route, do I cook them first, then cool them off, or do I just thaw them out then feed?

I’m always looking for veggies to give Boston that I eat as well, that way we can enjoy it together and I don’t have to buy stuff specifically for her!

I always hear that fresh is best. Better to go with fresh than not.

I buy fresh ones and then wash ’em and cut them up into slices. Although I sometimes just leave one for her to munch on during the day when she’s hungry. Always fresh… crunchy and fresh.

All of my buns LOVE brussel sprouts. I buy them at our grocery still on the stalk and they seem to last a little longer. Plus it ends up being a lot more sprouts vs what comes in the bags.
None of my buns have ever had problems w/ tolerating them and I typically feed them one daily along w/ a few other types of greens.

You know, with the heat right now, frozen sprouts might be a fun treat for them to try and eat.

Maryann loves them too. It’s the only vegetable she’ll actually eat while I’m watching her.

I would say fresh is best, frozen is Okay, but I think if you were to try and give it to your rabbit frozen it would be hard to get a hold of.

Wow, I’m impressed at how many of you feed sprouts to your buns and how many buns actually like them!

Boston had a gormet salad today: Romain, Basil, Mint, Red and Green Pepper! You can tell what she loves best….the salad dissappeared in that order. She FINALLY ate the peppers when there was nothing left and she had no other options.

You guys ever wonder where ALL that food goes?! Man, she had a huge salad, plus her daily pellets, plus all kinds of hay….thats a lot of food for such a little tum tum!!!! I swear she would just sit and eat all day long too!

Well, I’m gonna test out some fresh sprouts first and see how it goes, if she even will like them. I’ll try to find them on the stalk too, sounds wonderful! (And if Boston turns up her nose, sounds like a good side dish for me then!)

I admit that I never have to wonder where all that food goes, I scoop the product of it out of the litter box in heaps every other day.   I haven’t tried sprouts on my two, maybe I will since they are in season now.

i never thought to try those. might be nice for a small change for them. i *think* my husband likes them… so even if they don’t like them, i can give them to him.

you know you’re a bunny slave when you buy food for the bunnies first, then give the leftovers to the family…

My little critters love brussel sprouts, too!
When they fin one in their salad they grab it and run away to hide while eating it so the other bun will not steel it from them.
                              So cute!

i havent tried sprouts yet because at this time of year they are really expensive here, like 4.99 for a tiny bunch so i will wait until winter.
