My new 9 week old Holland Lop (Buddy) is shedding. He is a very smooth haired bunny. It’s not coming off in big clumps but everytime I hold him my shirt is covered in hair. I think it would be good to brush him. What is the best brush for him? And is there anything wrong with brushing him at least once a week if not more? (I looked in the Grooming Info, the Monthly maintenance, and searched through the different sections. There isn’t much information on kind of brush and how often is best)

It’s very good to brush your bun! It’s difficult to say what brush you should choose- I have a long-haired bun, I use a small slicker brush with him. Furminators tend to be too harsh on a bun’s delicate skin. Some people use a grooming mitt. There’s also the HairBuster comb.

For a smooth-haired bun I recommend lint rolling after brushing. The gluey paper gently removes loose hairs that haven’t collected in the brush. Most buns tolerate lint rolling well.

Thank you for the advice. I purchased a Small Evolution Self Clean Slicker Brush. It seems to work great! And the roller trick is awesome! Thank you, thank you!

I don’t know if it’s just my bunny, but he won’t let me brush him. I’ve bought so many different brushes for him, from the HairBuster to just a regular dog and cat flea comb. I ended up just lint rolling him, and he tolerates that very well. The frequency of grooming sessions depends on how much their shedding, but for starters I would recommend alternate days.
