I keep seeing these stains on the blankets when I use my light pink ones. What could this be? Little pee spots? Liquid from eating cecotropes? (Pretty sure those light green stains are from eating their greens).

By the way I saw Muffin eat an actual dried poop off the floor today……… Not sure if it was Pinky’s or his. Gross but funny and concerning?? Does anyone else’s rabbit do this?

Rabbits sometimes eat normal poop for a variety, but general harmless reasons, so I wouldn’t worry to much about that in particular unless it’s accompanied by other worrying/abnormal behaviors. If there is a sudden rise in frequency, I would raise a flag as well.

The stains could from ceco-juice, but typically it doesn’t spread that much. Pee spots are also a possibility. Beyond this blanket, are there any signs of incontinence? In other words, do you see this spotting else where? It may be worth exposing your floor or a different material as a floor so you can see if it’s a result of the blanket’s texture, or if there is a medical concern.

Yeah I thought the big spot was strange. Pinky has only peed outside of his pen once, in the corner of my room. I don’t see the spotting when they’re out during playtime.

I could possibly buy some tiles, what kinds are safe? Or, I have a big thick plastic lids from their litter boxes (storage bins).

I think these spots were from two days of having that blanket there. I’m not sure if it was Pinky or Muffin because I’ve been cage swapping morning and night.

Pinky does pee outside the litter box sometimes, he peed in the same spot twice yesterday in Muffin’s pen. He also pees in his own pen. I assume it’s a mixture of being territorial and not well litter trained yet (getting a bit better with his poop habits).

            Thanks!

I wonder if it could be from scent glands? Are the spots stinky?

Oh no I forgot to sniff it before I put it in the wash 😢. The next time it happens I’ll check to see what it smells like.

What would it mean if it’s from the scent glands? Cecotropes? Or needs cleaning?

The scent glands can get plugged up and need cleaning (pretty easy to do), or they could just actually be marking with them. If it’s just from cecotropes then you wouldn’t need to do anything.
