I saw this beautiful bunny that I’d love to adopt, as I have been looking for a companion for a while. The shelter is pretty far away, so I can’t take my bun for a date.

Would it be okay to just adopt her and bring her home to see how she does?

Have you talked to the shelter about her personaility? Do they know her history with other rabbits? Can you house two single rabbits?

I know it is far but would you be willing to take the drive out there? We had contacted the rescue that we got our buns from in advanced and they had several different buns in mind. The first pick and the little guy that they thought would do best with Skipper and Ian had actually really disliked Ian. He would thump every time Ian went by him.

If taking a trip down there is a not an option at all. Have you talked to the rescue about possibly being able to get blankets or towels with the possible bun candidate’s smell on it? That way your bun can get used to the smell and you can see your bun’s reaction to the smell?

I have talked to the shelter. They said she is a bit shy of humans, but does pretty well with other bunnies.

Basically, I saw this girl in petfinder and fell in love with her. She just so happened to be in a shelter right near where I’m leaving for next week. I could house them seprately, but would REALLY prefer not to.

Basically, do you think it would be bad to just bring her home and bond them? Do you think it wouldn’t work?

I think most bunnies are bondable but it depends on the dedication and knowledge of the human bonder. Remember that bonding can take many weeks or months. If you haven’t bonded bunnies before, I suggest you do as much reading as you can beforehand. This site is a great place to start.

                    Is the new bunny spayed?

However, there is always the possibility that you will be unable to bond them. Are you willing to keep the newly adopted bun as a single bun? If not, then I suggest you don’t adopt him.
