My oldest bun Ted sounds congested. He is breathing loudly, his ears stay relatively flat to his head and he just seems like he does not feel well. I’m worried. Should I take him to a vet? He isn’t really interested in playing at all either. His tummy does not feel distended, and I’m fairly sure he’s eating and drinking.

I think you should, just to be safe. If something is wrong, it’s best to catch it and treat it early so it’s less stressful for you and your bun.

Your gut instinct is wise — flat ears and poor breayhig sounds are both very big flags to go to the vet. There could be some major discomfort your rabbit is going through in his nasal cavities or lungs. A vet will be able to dissuade or confirm your worries, and either way it’s an improvement for both of you.

So I took him to the vet the same day I posted this, and turns out he was fine. Not sure what was going on with him, but he’s back to his normal funny bunny self.

I’m glad he’s ok and that you had him seen!
